Surigical spirit is a mix of ethanol and methanol. It doesn't have a single chemical composition cos it's a mixture of all sorts.

Both surgical spirit and isopropyl alcohol are alcohols just isopropyl has a higher molecular weight. Both are usually 100% in concentration but can be diluted with water.

It's canny hard to weigh molecules like.

Probably a bit late.
We specify at work the use of isopropyl alcohol for cleaning surfaces down before applying decals.
I think generally it's used as a localised degreaser.
Used to use surgical spirit for medical purposes plus toughening feet for hill walking.
