Any changes for 2nd Test 🤔

I love how people on social media pick at everything.

OK you win, I should have said away from home. Im going to stand in the corner now with my dunce cap on.
I am not on any social media mate.;)

But seriously it’s not about home and away for me.

It’s downbeat posts towards a side that has a canny test record, and by the way actually won its last test series away against a good side;)

Pope essentially opened in the last test and did a little better than most. Facing a ball less than six deliveries old isn't a huge stretch.

Hardly ideal but Crawley is mentally done.
Poor captaincy/ management if Crawley is selected for the next Test. As you say, Crawley is mentally done. Another failure could totally wreck his career. Never mind loyalty Stokes/fatty Key/ McCullum drop the lad, it would be cruel on the lad not too.

The chance of him being dropped is nil. Literally zero. No matter what happens, he’s going nowhere before the MCG.

Every match we lost, every sub-par white ball performance you popped up to remind us it was all about the next Ashes series.

Since that hasn't started too well, let's all remember the New Zealand series.

You might want to Google Red Herring fallacy and focus on the series in hand

Yes. McKinney and Gay have done more than enough to get picked in the warm up games.

Feel free to find posts where I have popped up regularly when I have said ‘ it’s all about the ashes’

You have simply just made that up?

I do however constantly mention due to the constant criticism of this side that under this regime it has won a lot more tests matches than they have lost.

Criticism is justified when side constantly adopts the same plan of swinging recklessly regardless of the match situation. Why should having won more matches than they've lost absolve them from criticism? The side constantly refuse to adapt to .different situations. How is that criticism unjustifiable?
Both India and Australia are currently weak by their normal standards. yet England haven't won a series against them.
If you object to criticism respond to posts doing so and offer a counter argument to the criticism.

Is it swinging recklessly when it comes off and we win or just when we lose?

Do you think all of our batsmen are capable of a 'proper' test match innings?

Watched podcast with Jimmy Anderson post first test. His take was Aussies also batted poorly, and he said "Head just decided to thrash away, and this time it came off".

We've almost always lost in Australia regardless of good or weak they've been tbf, it's not as if we have a blue print of proven success and are abandoning it.

As usual there's areas to be criticised but it's gobe OTT and people are having irrational meltdowns over a test that was lost in two days (which could only happen by us knocking them over, for the lowest score in all 4 innings I might add - was that good bowling or disgusting batting?)

I'm not referencing one particular innings-I'm questioning the one size fits all attitude to batting and a refusal to adapt the playing style to the match situation. What is irrational or OTT in criticising some of the appalling shot selection and the brainless bowling in Aussies 2nd innings?

Part of the rage is the test being done in two. Hence all the jokes about it. But that's only possible because of the shit Aussie batting too. Or was it great bowling? Both teams (if you take Heads knock out of it) either batted really poorly or bowled really well.

And it's always the same, if we win, it's because we played well. If we lose, it's because we were shite. The opposition are never part of the conversation.

And again, perhaps some can't actually adapt and/or play a proper test innings. So either stay in for a bit, scratch about, and out. Or play some shots and see what comes off.

What I'd say though is at least if they take more time out the game it will at least give the bowlers a bit more rest.

You reference brainless bowling second innings but Broad said looking at Heads dismissals that was the way to go. They just didn't execute it. Anderson added in Head just thrashed away, and it came off, but on another day, is gone early. Basically played his version of Bazball and it worked on the day.

Both Root and Brook have deteriorated by trying to adapt to Bazball.
Root has been a significantly better performer in the Stokes/ McCullen era than he was previously. Particularly in terms of his conversion of hundreds. It’s very noticeable whenever they do a statistical analysis of whether he might catch Tendulkar.

Brooke has only played in this era so I don’t see how he can have deteriorated or got better.

Agree it was an extremely challenging pitch

both Root and Brook are currently in the worst form of their career, that is indisputable. An uplift in form for Rook initially after being freed of the captaincy would have been expected but if you can't see and accept the lengthy inconsistency in both their performance recently so be it.

Once again mate criticism is entirely justified on occasions when a team plays badly, no problem with that.

And of course this team on occasions has deserved it.

However as with any sport if a particularly team wins a lot more games than they lose you would expect by very nature for praise to outweigh criticism however it’s the complete opposite on here
