Another youngster heading off

Ah OK, so he's in the same bracket as Ryan Noble and Richie Ryan then.

He played 45 minutes for one of the worst Premier League sides in recent years, losing the game 0-5 and the poor lad was widely ridiculed (have a listen to the Guardian's podcast on the game). He hasn't played since at that level. He's subsequently joined a side hopelessly out of their depth at Championship level, and after a handful of starts, quickly fell out of the team and barely makes the bench now. You'd think the club had lost the plot if we spent £315k on someone who couldn't get any minutes at Peterborough this season. Good luck to the lad, good kid but time has now shown it was a good deal and the club were right to sell him. He'll likely carve out a career for himself at the lower end of League One or more likely League Two. I respect people have their own views but perhaps the conspiracy nuts and the Bali cult club who have been desperate to discredit me on that can now hold their hands up. I won't hold my breath though.
Regarding Ryan Noble, it wasn't football ability why he didn't make it

I'm sorry, but he's actually almost 21 and it's been four years since he made his debut, and he's never been able to hold down a place in a team at various professional levels since. You'd have to admit that all evidence points to him being another Noble at this point, and that we've done very well off the deal. Of course you can say that he might come good further down the line at 22, 23, 24 or later but take that approach with all our youth players and the club would soon be bankrupt. He scored a goal in the cup against non-league opposition and many tried to use that to discredit my view, so why shouldn't I be entitled to seek some humility from the same posters?

Anyway, that's all I want to say on the matter. The thread should be discussing this junior.
He was a regular starter until some serious injuries made him unavailable for quite lengthy spells.

You don’t have a fuxking clue what you’re talking about you f***ing tit. No wonder those blokes were looking to fill you in

Dan Neil is a totally different profile to the sort of player we’ve been losing - he’s 20 whereas is 14-17 years olds we’ve been selling

It’s fairly normal that an 18 year old joining a premier league club won’t be making as many appearances as a 20 year old playing for a struggling league 1 side.

One that is a good comparison is Greenwood who’s also 20. He only had 3 appearances for Leeds but has 2 assists in those games and the manager has already said he’ll feature a lot more

Dan Neil won’t be going anywhere this summer from what I’ve been told, interest from the clubs that were mentioned are not as high now.

I think if he wants to leave he’s gone.
Slap in the face will be him going to the scum and coming back on loan.
Why?
Surely, if he wants away, that is the best result. You get a lump sum and benefit from the education you have provided the lad with.

Mag or not, from what i have heard over the last few years, no way should he pick us. I know of two who have first hand experience of the Newcastle academy. Both reports were / are less than favourable.

First time I've seen this lad play, looks very talented. Number 16 shirt.

I was watching todays highlights and it reminded me of your posts, one goal in particular.

Do you look back at all your views now and hold your hands up or were a half years worth of AoB and Danny Grahams wages still worth flogging the youth?

Funny how it all turned out.

the stratgey deployed around the academy at that time was silly..but they did have a choice in the case of all the players that left?
all bar maybe one or two had rejected contracts hadnt they?

Not all would have stayed had we tried to keep them Im sure Kildare, It was more to do with the fact that we were actively pushing people out of the door. That paired with those involved in doing so suggesting it was obviously the best course in order to afford cult heroes such as AoB and football luminaries such as Danny Graham was a worrying time.

players have to have rejected a contract or they would have been no money to make..
