Another perspective re Xhaka

"Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness" Ffs

I don't think we need to take advice from an obese Earthworm Jim whose only claim to fame is once running Everton and getting sacked from Villa for offensive social media posts
I’m not too worried about the opinions of a man who’s football career has reached the point where he’s relying on football insider for income:lol:

He's not wrong, we can't really be taking Granit's presence in the starting XI for granted next season at his age with all the extra games. We need to find the right cover for him this transfer window.
In Europe there's gonna be more comfy games than not in the group stages, that's why we will have to grab the points in the first few games then just qualify, we don't need to go all guns blazing to top the table or anything like that. Away legs in the arse end of Europe there's no need for him to even travel, let him rest

Similarly in the league, he's gonna have to be subbed off more before the end of games to conserve his fitness.

The summer will be all about getting depth and cover in the squad so we aren't so reliant on him flogging himself every game
Jordan Henderson would be ideal cover!

Maybe not but which quality replacement is going to come to be sub? Could Rigg play there?
Rigg will play there eventually. He will move inside as he gets physically stronger. We will sign at least one other DM in the summer and have a recruitment team with money to spend and extensive knowledge of European football. This is a new Sunderland. Professionally run and not going to be patronised any more.

Both aging at the same rate won’t solve the position longer term

Realistically, we should just enjoy Xhaka and having him here...

We will try our best to find someone as a potential replacement, but it would be a struggle regardless. He is a very high calibre player.

We’ll sign another holding midfielder provide cover this season, the trouble will be finding a player who will come in knowing he’s Xhaka’s understudy.

Have a sneaky feeling that Hume will play an even bigger role next year. The lad is a freak for how many games he can play consistently.

Although he not part of management i think he'll have a big say on who we bring in to do his job... expect a big name. He knows so many players who probably have a great respect for him, he might just sell our club to one of them. IMHO
