He's not wrong, we can't really be taking Granit's presence in the starting XI for granted next season at his age with all the extra games. We need to find the right cover for him this transfer window.

Could say that about most players, it could well be a 55 game plus season, we all know most of the players will have to be rotated/ injured at some points in the season and its hardly groundbreaking to deduce that a 33yr old has question marks over his long term role

You could say that about most players, yes. Most players aren't our captain and best player though. He's a unique presence and we need to demonstrate that we can perform at the levels we're aspiring to be at without him on the pitch.
I think he’ll be just fine. While he may cover a bit of ground he’s never in a panic to do so. Very efficient and reads the play in front of him.

Hes 33 man, there's no mystery in realising he won't be starting or completing potentially a 55 game plus season. We will no doubt see him being subbed out a lot more if we are comfy in games or not even travelling to some of the euro ties once we have secured getting out the group stage

Nobody is expecting a 33 year old to play every minute of every game for 50+ games next season. Having said that, he's played virtually every minute he's been available for this season, and played 100 games in 2 years at Leverkusen. He's fit as a fiddle.
But we will obviously manage his minutes next season. There's been talk of Kondogbia coming in, who would give us that option of another experienced 'sitter' to come off the bench and give Xhaka 15-20 minutes rest at the end of games.

I think our early links with Kondogbia show that we will be in the market for a Dan Neil replacement who will become backup for Xhaka.
I would expect them to play some of the European games against teams from the lower pots and maybe domestic cup ties.
Think Xhaka will be fine to play the PL games plus the biggest European ties.

It's not often we end up "comfy" in games these days mind. Vast majority of games we played this season were on a knife's edge until the dying stages.

In Europe there's gonna be more comfy games than not in the group stages, that's why we will have to grab the points in the first few games then just qualify, we don't need to go all guns blazing to top the table or anything like that. Away legs in the arse end of Europe there's no need for him to even travel, let him rest
Similarly in the league, he's gonna have to be subbed off more before the end of games to conserve his fitness.
The summer will be all about getting depth and cover in the squad so we aren't so reliant on him flogging himself every game
