I hate 'cheap trick' photography and think that about sums up HDR. What annoys me more is the fact the subject is such that it really isn't needed. f***ing HDR wankers.

I am gratified by the rise in antiHDR fundamentalism though. We can persuade them to have a conference in the new ground zero building and fly a plane into it

Like any digital trick, it's OK used correctly and in moderation. The problem is every lazy, mediocre photographer is using it willy nilly because it makes a dull or poorly composed photograph look 'interesting'.

Probably Film has high dynamic range built in as standard anyway...it just a trick needed by inferior digital sensors

Print film has a pretty high dynamic range. Not slide film though - that can be as little as 4 stops

It's not gonna look like HDR. Why would you want it to?
