Another car thread...

I had a Citroen ZX years back, engine was no issue. But electrics were a nightmare (got up one morning and it was dead - talked to the local Citroen specialist and he knew exactly what it was a multiblock connector for the wiring loom right under the windscreen where it gets nice and damp if seals pass a little) and CV boot gaiters were almost a consumable item. Got rid in the end as it was costing more and more each service

because we needed one...

Was speaking to a guy the other day about Peugeot’s, he loves his...I told him I’d never buy another french car, but he said Peugeot’s reliability levels have vastly improved and winning awards etc...

Just wonders what’s people’s recent experiences were with French car companies in general and if they’ve improved their products....and most importantly are you happy with it..

I had an old Citroen C4 and it was bloody awful, styling was great but as a technical product it was shite...

My first car was a Citroen c2. I loved it Tbf. Then I got a Renault megane. Hated it! Put me off French. Now I'm onto a Ford mondeo and we'll I'm not even a fan of that so American cars suck imo too.

4 cylinder petrol engines are a joint venture between BMW and PSA. The 3 cylinder engines can be found in Peugeot, Citroen and Vauxhall cars and the previous diesels could be found in Fords.

The infotainment system was designed by the same company that designed Fiat’s system - meaning it’ll have the same software as every Fiat, Jeep, Alfa, Chrysler and probably some others.

so the engine is OK but everything else is shite ;)
That 2.0 diesel is ancient anyhow . The hard parts are fine ,engine ,chassis etc ,some of the electric side is suspect .Can't say French cars are the bane of the motor trades life .The Berlingo Partner van is the best one out there

They come with a 3 year warranty so you’re covered, that’s the first point.

Plus, as with all manufacturers, the majority are well built cars with zero problems and the ones with problems are generally the exception.

That's a very bold statement.

And also very correct.

I used to work in automotive, seen thousands of cars go out with known defects, I once saw two weeks worth of production get parked up without batteries for the ECU, batteries turned up and they were retrofitted with a very basic test and driven straight to the port.

I could go for hours to be honest, it's cheaper to ship and correct if the fault is found/appears rather than halt production until the problem is rectified.

Absolutely love my 3008 GT Line. No problems with it whatsoever in the 18 months I've had it.

The interior is miles ahead of anything in its class (most of which comes as standard). Bloke who dropped it off said he couldn't believe it was a Peugeot. There's obviously still a massive perception problem as you don't see many of them on the road.
