I used to listen to that show every week, got me into a load of stuff when I was a kid - really sad news RIP

I used to love Annie's Sunday night show on Radio 1 which was different to any other shows back in the 80s. I remember recording songs from her radio show on cassette and trying to judge when to hit stop before she started speaking at the end of the song. RIP Annie.

I recall two things about Annie Nightingale. She mentioned me on the OGWT once. And the car-crash interview with Paul Simon when she asked him if he missed Art Garfunkel, who he'd written all those Simon & Garfunkel songs with. If he was as mortified as his facial expression suggested as he corrected her, he did a good job of controlling his voice.

Always remember her shows on Sunday Afternoons and later Sunday Evenings. Popular with the youth of the day in a similar way to John Peel.
