That's my worry. Even if he does stay, it shows he is not happy at all.

If it was a Premier league job you'd sort of accept it, as a huge jump in pay and opportuniy, but Stoke aren't far off where we are at this point, possibly a bit more cash to offer, but they are in the doldrums whereas we were seemingly on an upward trajectory.

Stinks of bad behind the scenes stuff to be desperate to make a sidestep like that
Surely to god if we have given permission to talk to stoke it’s because

A. We knew he wants off anyway

B. Trouble is brewing around the transfers (or lack of them)

C. We h replacement lined up already.

I really like Neil now. He proved me wrong. But I still think he doesn't like the intensity of our fans and the media spotlight up here. If he goes to Stoke it's a downwards step.
Might like a quiet life at middle of the road clubs, look at who he’s managed previously

As Hunter insinuated in May and repeated the other day, the club had to do as much as possible to retain his services if they wanted to keep him long term. Sort out the contract and make concessions on certain recruitment decisions.

Obviously this is speculation on my part, but I suspect the signing of the Costa Rican boy is more of a club decision than an Alex Neil decision and it hasn’t gone down well given what we need in the market. Perhaps the pursuit of the French boy is similar too.

If there are differences of opinion on recruitment and there’s a potential offer elsewhere with better terms and more control then it’s inevitable Neil will at least consider it. Especially if it’s a club geographically closer to his wife and family.

But Neil knew that was the script when signing on. It's very rare that a manager actually has sole control over transfers these days.

If he thinks Stoke is a better option, then he can get fucked. There's no room for sentiment in football, as Neil is proving today with all this f***ing on the day before we play.

If, and it's a big if, that is the case, the most depressing thing about it is how a manager who has already achieved "hero" status would even contemplate leaving. Unless, of course Madrox are still sniffing around in KLD's office making his position almost untenable.
It’s the backwards step. I just don’t understand it.

Even if he signs a new deal and this was just a ploy he will be semi-tarnished amongst us now. I remember Rooney doing so at Man Utd and his reputation never properly recovered.

It is just so depressing. The second things look good they turn to shit overnight. I can’t comprehend what is going through Neil’s head. Was really looking forward to Norwich too.

This. He’s notorious for reading shit on here and posting it as fact. Neil isn’t going anywhere
Course he is man. He’s not happy that we have fuck all to spend. He was annoyed when we got called one of the highest spenders. Even if stoke can’t spend atm they have a hell of a lot more potential to.
