ALS Methven Interview

Most important I think is to strike a balance - we've had football people in charge and it hasn't worked. We've had business people in charge. Even worse. Yes, football's a business these days but it has to be understood that everything the business does must be completely focussed on getting the best out on the pitch that we can. Only when the football side, the business side, and the support are all going in the same direction can progress be made.

Look, I get that his job is to make the right noises, get the fans behind the project and hopefully create better times for the club. He certainly is accomplishing the first two if the response on here is anything to go by.

That said, there's absolutely no need to make up some utter horseshit about Newcastle to pander to the masses. It's both cringeworthy and unprofessional.......and that goes for any of our players/owners saying disparaging things about Sunderland.

But it's not horseshit. In my experience at least, most of the football fans in the UK think the same. I speak to people from all over the UK, and when I tell them where I am from, if they are interested in football they usually make reference to "those cocky buggers up the road from you".

Remember couple of years ago, away at Watford last game, bumped into leciester, Grimsby, villa fans etc. They all hated Newcastle to a man. Arrogant wankers who are delusional was the word.

Im more bothered about fannies being offended on their behalf. Correct who cares about them when we have positivity, so out of all of the positives in that interview, you were the one that came out with one perceived negative. The overall positivity seemed to have passed you somewhat. The mags were the first thing on your mind
A cross section of our fans seem
A. Easily offended
B. Easily embarrassed
C. Prone to doom and gloom

Any of the above is their right ... but theyd be far happier if they just accept that our culture of failure is about to change... the process of change will most likeky be unflinching and brutal
...the various mag regimes mouth pieced in the media have taken pot shots at us... they are fair game now

So its time nut up or shut up

He is fast becoming a legend but not too popular on the Oxford forum.

Hopefully he stays away from our board.

They make interesting points, and the quotes from him are a bit odd. One would assume that with him being an Oxford fan his engagement on that level would be different to how he is with us.

He is a good talker, and obviously well thought of in the PR industry, but people need to realise that PR isn’t just about people saying the right things. It’s about managing reputations, and creating links between the public and the entity you are doing the PR for. So far I have seen nothing to highlight that we aren’t in safe hands in that sense. Every piece of communication from the club has been spot on thus far, but they’ve still got a lot to do.

I do really like how brutally honest he is, and he’s proving that they have not left any stone unturned in their DD.

I feel at the moment like being at the top of a roller coaster. Your not sure why your there, not sure what will happen next but there's bugger all you can do about it but hang on and hope to enjoy the ride.
If you are at the top of a roller coaster the only way is down. I prefer to think we are st the bottom of the roller coaster waiting for the ride to begin, and the only way is up.

Interesting read.

Sos if seb

Having met the guy, chatted to him for some time, and now read that, I have to say I am very confident we are in good hands.
If he and SD end up making money along the way, good on them.
So much common sense spoken, how refreshing !
Just want to see the aresholes on the playing staff like Kone run out of town and young hungry determined players replacing them.
Onwards and upwards.

I think SD & CM would've taken the 18 million off Everton for kone.

Poor reg is seething, he will be giving his avatar a damn good thrashing Basil Fawlty style. Good old Charlie gives one interview and reggie boy is so not bothered, hes posted 10 times about it up to now.
Like most skunks, their heads are so far up their own arses they just don't see it.
I've lost count of the number of times fans of other clubs have told me how much they hate Newcastle, think their fans are arrogant esp in view of the fact they've won fuck all since 55(inter fairs cup f### off man), and basically think they're entitled to the keys of the gates of heaven cos 52000 scweamin jawdees attend every other week.
