Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Caen have took the piss and we have looked elsewhere.
We will still take Mendy off their hands if he is desperate to join. Maybe at the fee that was previously agreed before the new owners came in and got greedy.
They only have themselves to blame if they end up with a replacement for Mendy in place and nowhere for Mendy to go.
Can't fault the club for our stance on this. Give people an inch and they try to take a mile.

His replacement cost nowt, he wanted to come here but what if the other interested clubs have offered Caen more money it’s no different to our stance on Clarke we have a value that needs to be met before he goes, regardless of his wishes.
I don't think it matters if other clubs have offered more, unfortunately for Caen the player has said he wants to come here.

We're in a position of strength now and have potentially a couple of other strikers here already.

They are paying wages for a player who doesn't want to be there, have signed his replacement already so are paying his wages, and we're announcing to the world were done here.

It either forces them to drop their asking price and get the deal over the line as we want, or we know they never will drop their asking price, and at least we have nine days to find someone else and aren't left with nobody when they hold fast on deadline day. So all in all, its a good thing for us.

Bloke who reported it is notoriously a bit hit and miss, french Keith Downie but he will get some stuff right.

I'm going to wait a bit longer until santi aouna says something along the same lines.

So we believe the press when it’s convenient then?. The truth is always somewhere in the middle. We should’ve walked way sooner we’ve been stuck on this one player all summer it seems.

Well the vast majority are believing we’ve withdrawn our bid like they did when our bids were not enough. I’ve just pointed out that conveniently that our increased bids have been overlooked.

we're still short of a striker so there needs to be another coming in.
Agree think a few are getting carried away with the start mayenda has made. He’s a young lad and barring some massive luck he’s gonna have some big dips and tbh it’s a big gamble to have him and the lad from Russia being our only really forwards as let’s be honest rushy just doesn’t look capable of scoring regularly and hemir will be away somewhere as he’s miles away. Hope the club have more than the lad from Russia to come in.

What if their fall back position is they are perfectly content if he remains as part of the squad?

People saying we need to bring 2 strikers in but I'd be more than happy if we brought in the French lad, got Mayenda firing, and use the money that we would spend on another striker to give Jack Clarke a new improved contract.

I’m obviously basing this on his YouTube vids 😂 but just had a feeling he would be class for us. Really hoping we can still get something done

Would not surprise me . Fits with our lack of ambition
It's not lack of ambition though, it's lack of funds available. KLD and Speakman both know the value of getting promoted so of course they are aiming for that.
My guess is the largest chunk of money we had to spend this summer came from the bonus in the Stewart deal.

Would be odd to go from chasing a genuine, experienced #9 to signing another work in progress who likes to drift wide and then not doing anything else.
