Na that’s bullshit the balls to them simply weren’t good enough or few and far between if they were gonna score 9 times out of ten they had to make something out of nothing for themselves which they couldn’t do with so many defenders around them the clear cut chances weee simply to few and far between everything Beale and Dodds did was possession based this bollocks of drawing the press on then beating it which we didn’t have the players at the back or the keeper good enough with his feet to do so I recon 90% of our possession was defenders why would you want that they are generally the worst players with the ball
I think you're talking horseshit, but I'll play along.
You say 9 times out of 10 they had to make something theirselves, which they couldn't do with so many defenders around them. As if defenders weren't marking the wingers or attacking midfielder- just the striker.
You would think over a whole season more would fall to them, they would get opportunities somehow either by closing down, by luck, the odd misplaced cross or a dribble going wrong and yet they managed to score next to f*ck all. Jobe looked the best 'striker' by far and outscored them all easily, simply by having half decent movement in and around the box and some physique in the box - which highlights just how shit the others were as it's that simple even in a side struggling to make chances, which we weren't.
Our strikers and their input was absolutely abysmal.
Beale wasn't possession based at all. Dodds wasnt at times, after hed had success early on first spell against Leeds. Beale was compact centrally and tried to do so to allow Bellingham, Clarke (when fit) Burstow, Ba to hit sides on the break, especially against the better sides. But Beale even done it against sides like Stoke where it worked or Millwall where it didn't. But even with space on the counter there was too many mistakes and bad choices made.
You're confusing sides sitting off us and allowing us to play as us being "possession based". Sides were doing that to restrict us and catch us on the break, as they knew we were one dimensional and easy to play against.
You probably also think that's going to massively change with Le Bris, without realising some sides, knowing we still lack strikers, will allow us to play in front of them without us having the physical strength or pace to trouble them going past them often enough.
