This would be the Evans that played most of last season 🤷‍♂️ Not having a replacement for Evans going into last season was definitely a failure though. Dack was kind of an Evans substitute but barely played and was mostly ineffective. I see addition of Browne as a definite improvement on last season. If the transfer window closes and there is no striker you have a point about incompetence but at the moment I will give them a little bit of slack. The Will Still episode and whole Head Coach recruitment process was very poor, hopefully we have a competent coach in place now but he is going to need support.

I actually think our centre mid was just as important to sort to allow team to play better. Ekwah was so laid back that there was a lack of intensity in there.

Im quietly confident we'll do the necessary biz to balance the team

I know RLB wants to play Jobe on the left side of a midfield 3, but I'd be using him upfront and putting either Rigg or Adil in the team.

2nd half bring Mayenda off the bench to go at a (hopefully) tired defence. I'd happily be wrong, but I just don't think he's ready to be starting games at the moment.

I'm always with you in support of the club but it's reached a stage now where not paying 3m for a 30yr old is a gamble .
There is only so many times I can come on here and support the decisions being made .

Fair enough, not like we're in a rush, still four days left until the season starts.

Then, if Mbappe persuades Mendy to stay, we still have a few weeks to source and/or sign a CF and we'll only be 8 or 9 games into the season and trying to get any prospective new signing up to speed and fit.

Poveda, two goals in two seasons, 👍
Let's see how many games he actually plays.

I’m genuinely just saying it as I see it. Fully agree we need a striker, it’s a joke, the gamble is him jumping across the water and playing in a different league. Ugbo is proven and younger for example, I know he wouldn’t come but the likes of Stansfield for a million more is younger and proven. Just saying I think it’s right that they try to get the best option for the best fee. Fuck Caen.

The strange thing is that Caen already sold one of thier player in June to one of our championship club, i think it is burnley. its very strange indeed.

Why is that strange? Clubs sell layers in transfer windows. Not saying at all that there isn’t some weird issue with us signing a decent striker. We’ve had 18months of failure with that position, just saying I’m open minded about other options.

We're not paying 4m for Mendy, if we were, he'd be here by now. We're certainly not paying 5m upwards for Stansfield (even of he would come here) the club will not pay those kinds of fees.

The whole reason we're after Mendy in the first place is because we thought we could get him on the cheap at under 2m.

So you're saying we should sign our second choice striker and forget about our first for the sake of potentially a couple of weeks?
