Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Aye but there were plenty of reservations when they signed. Neither Hemir or Mayenda had anything like a senior career of any note. Relying on either of them to replace Stewart /Amad’s goals would have been like us putting all of our faith in Michael Reddy to replace Phillips back in the 00s. It was obviously a huge ask (as it had been for Gelhardt when we signed him in the January prior)
Cannon would fall into that too. 1 half decent season and barely 30 senior appreances

Imagine what it would be like on here if we were in Man City's position and actually signing top top players.

He's never going to develop if we stick him on the bench.

Im more interested in Sunderland AFCs results and performances than Mayenda’s individual development plan. I think we’d be better served by a better centre forward.

Disappointing, he looked like the strong type of striker we could have done with.

The pressure is on to bring someone in before tomorrow night, its a massive ask to pin our hopes on isidor alone. Mayenda has filled in ok but he is still a couple of years before he is ready to play regularly at this level.

Rusyn and Mayenda are both not ready. We need someone to fight Isidor for his place with Mayenda and Rusyn being the cameo role.

If end the window with Rusyn or Mayenda as second choice it'll cost us

But we're signing young players to develop them mate, consequently they need to play and we need to be patient and trust the process.

I think that's unfair on Mayenda. Yet again it seems fans are writing players off too soon. Many probably wouldn't have played Rigg on the basis he's too young, Bellingham was heavily criticised by some last season, unfairly so imo and he's hit the ground running this season.

Mayenda is a prospect, but last week showed he's nowhere near the finished article. He's good to come off the bench. If Isidor picked up 4 to 6 week injury he isn't good enough to start games

The chances he misses could be the difference in getting promoted

So after scoring 2 goals the week before he's now been written off because he didn't score in his last game. This place man.

Persisting with a player who isn’t fit for purpose in a key position with little in reserve would not build trust in the process. It will eradicate all trust in the process.

Sunderland AFC is not a kindergarten. Whilst some might subscribe to that view, supporters don’t invest their time and money in the club just to be patient, watch sporadic (or worse) results come in and then be happy that an individual player has made incremental progress ready to be sold.

There’s patience with a big picture and then there’s rigid dogma.
