You continually make excuse after excuse for the recruitment, saying the 2023 January would have been good if Stewart had not been injured is ludicrous

So Speakman interviewed him and Speakman gave him the job. It was Speakman’s decision and thus was Speakman’s fault. You’re over complicating it.

We needed cover at cb, we needed a striker, and of course a dcm which still hasn't been signed. Anderson was signed as cover and never got a kick because he was nowhere near ready. We ended up rushing back Alese for the Luton game and we know how that ended.

Speakman doesn’t interview alone. It was reported there was a 7 panel interview group for this round of manager hunts. Speakman, KLD and directors interview and talk it over. It wasn’t solely KS my decision was my point you can’t individually blame him

Then Speakman should not get any specific credit for anything good that’s happened then. For example Dave Jones is equally responsible for us signing Cirkin for example.

Yes you can when you oversee the whole project, which he does
You don’t get paid the big bucks to make footballing decisions and then share it with others
Do you think if he got a stellar appointment (hopefully RLB) he would share his success? Would he shite, he is head of footballing operations the appointment of the head coach role stops with him. It’s his remit, the final decision will be his irrespective of others input. He had a 40,000 panel interviewing Beale and he ignored the advice of 39546 of them.

Recruitment of players is a different set of people. But head of recruitment Stuart Harvey does a lot of the recruitment work, KS will negotiate contracts etc. he’s not a scout. Scouts find players as does Harvey, Harvey will talk to the player as will KS and then negotiate contracts.

People seem to think KS acts alone if so there’s no point in any of the other jobs at the club

I completely get that point. Ultimately him and KLD have the final decision. But it’s also in the clubs best interests to have a group opinion. Although Beale supposedly interviews really well.

But I do completely understand what you’re saying

speakman has done well in patches, abysmal in others.

is never to blame, and loves a medal.

someone should publish a "SAFC Buck Stops" leaflet. Then we all know who is responsible, then we can praise them highly, and volley them when they fail.

Of course he’s to blame. Slow contract negotiations etc is all him. You just can’t blame him alone for an appointment.

Regardless of whether it's one man, a team, or the entire management and ownership of the club, I think it's fair to say recruitment of players in the last 12-18 months has been an appalling failure. I don't actually care whose fault it is, I believe someone should be held to account, however. Even if we sign two strikers today they're already playing catch up as pre-season posturing is nearly over and a 0-1 defeat to a poor Cardiff side looms, where we watch another game where we noodle about with decent possession and look about as threatening as Yaxley-Lennon wihout his bouncers.

I know all that. My point is simply that you're basically saying anything bad he's done is everyone's fault so he can't take the blame for anything. So whichever way you look at it, he's either a waste of time as he's just a patsy for others, or he's grossly incompetent. Either way, he's crap.
