You see this argument pisses me off, he signed 4 strikers which up to now certainly haven’t improved the squad. Add to that Lihadji and Dajaku you begin to wonder if he could find a striker at all. Yet people still harp back about “not wanting another Will Grigg”. To waste time and money on 6 non contenders for the first team is as bad as one Grigg, yet people are still blowing smoke up Speakmans arse.
It may have been one shit season which by the way would have been avoided if Speakman thought the same as many fans, that Beale was a disaster, but it’s been 4 windows he’s failed to sign a first team ready striker.
People aren't blowing smoke up Speakmans arse though, People just have an alternative view to others.
FWIW I think Speakmans done a very good job considering the position we were in when he took the job. The value within the squad now is incomparable to what he inherited. There's no doubt about it we have signed some duds, but that is always going to happen at any club, Even more so one that's trying to recover financially from a club that was completely decimated on the back of back-to-back relegations.
The Striker situation is shit, Everybody knows it and he needs to rectify it urgently. I don't think they are sitting doing fuck all, It's probably as equally frustrating for them as it is for us.
The argument that we haven't brought a Striker in isn't true, We've brought in four that just don't happen to be ready yet. Rusyn on the face of it looked a decent buy but bringing in foreign players who are fairly young is always going to be a risk. It's evident last year we weren't a club that's prepared to pay significant wages in the hope an experienced Striker would be the answer.
From the top 10 scorers in the Championship we had one in the top 10, There was only Armstrong, Vardy, Sergeant, Lath and Adams who were also in the top 10 that play upfront. Every single one of them were either at clubs that have recently been relegated from the PL, or from clubs that reinvested alot of money from a big sale to bring them in. We haven't been able to do that yet as we have managed to retain our best players.
It clearly isn't easy when you don't have a large budget to fall back on..
