You make some good points on youth development, which make sense given our strategy.

But, Norwich was 7 years ago, and despite his great job at PNE he was never poached by a larger club and loyalty kept him in a job until he was sacked? I don’t buy it.

We could’ve gone for much worse, I give you that, but I’m need of convincing he’s the man to lead us back to the PL.

Who is, great question, had you heard much of Potter until he came back to England? I was hoping we’d use our “data driven approach” to unearth someone who was building up to a big job.
He doesn’t have to lead us back to the PL. Get us out of L1 will do.

I think before every game those behind him should adopt a neiling position on KO. Then if they’re still with him at HT do it again as the players leave the pitch. If nee one neils then sack him and get someone else in for the second half.

Right pain that, neiling isn’t a problem but getting back up is nigh on impossible at my age

People seem to be ignoring what he did at Hamilton prior to going to Norwich. Got them promoted in his first season in charge and then got them up to 3rd in the Scottish Prem (level on points with Celtic in 2nd) when he left halfway through the next season. The predictable response will be how shit the Scottish league is but it’s all relative, Hamilton are a small club in that shit league so to be where they were when he left was a major achievement.

Arguably a better CV than Keane and a massive upgrade on LJ. I wanted him after Parkinson but was told on here that he wouldn’t leave Preston to drop down a division. These are probably the same people now saying Sunderland are too good for him!

You give me hope

We've got some decent players and a couple too good for this league (that we will lose if we don't go up). When the play flows we look better than we have since we were comfortably in the Premier. BUT, they lack discipline and organisation, particularly in defence. It's actually a better starting point than any manager has been offered here in a very long time. An above average manager can do it, I think Neil fits the bill.

I'm not taking the knee, couldn't handle the pressure of being booed.

@SuperGerryHarrison

OK, something obviously happened, but it’s like saying we nearly appointed McCann or Lennon, because we spoke to them. I’m still not convinced he was offered the job.

He did nothing of note at PNE in my eyes, people used Johnsons record at Bristol as a stick to beat him with. Apart from one season, Neil’s record is similar.

Anyway, I’m happy to give him a chance.

Have you been watching the same games as me? The squad is in a terrible state bar four or five players that might offer something on a good day.
