Graham Potter finished 10th in his only season in the championship yet he’s doing ok at Brighton, think some need to look at context. For the record, I’m not saying Neil is as good as Potter.

I'm a Lancashire lad by birth and had never heard of it....had one in the ground, it was shite

Give me a Holland's Cheese and Onion any day

See my response.. Accy pies win
It’s very popular in Preston and the surrounding areas. Any pie shop in Preston will serve it so probably depends where abouts you were from.

Yes strange, usually the arrangement is the club will usually pay the wages if they’ve sacked them until they get another job but apparently our arrangement is we’ll still be paying him even if he gets Sunderland job.

Ah well ignore me. We’re still paying him until June 2022 either way.

You’ll know better than me what’s going on at Preston but that does seem strange, obviously the devil is in the detail but if he does join us I’d of thought he was only due the difference between his contracted Preston salary and his contracted Sunderland salary

Well he's has an aim off play offs and going up via the lottery. It's all doable but he'll have to be quick turning the teams form around.

I fear not going up this season and it's a full rebuild again. Good chance we stay in League 1 and we lose all of (via out of contract or not being able to keep them) Stewart, Neil, Dajaku, Hoffman, Gooch, Defoe, Burge, McGeady, Wright, Xhemajli, Broadhead, Willis, Kimpioka, Clarke and Roberts.

Some we'll be happy to lose, some not, some are expected as well and a few may take new contracts but that would see us needing a full new team and hope it clicks again.

You think he’d be sacked if we don’t go up this season?!

Play offs would be a great achievement right now. I don’t think anyone gets the sack for missing out in the play offs / suppose it depends how you fail maybe.

Promotion a bonus if it happens this season. He gets a full crack at it with a transfer window in the summer. Then judge him.

That would depend on how we play and the impact he has.

I’ll always get behind the team, but I’m not seeing why some think he’s a coup or a good appointment. I just can’t see Alex Neil taking us through the leagues

Any manager worth his salt should get us into the play-offs.

🤣🤣🤣
He's an upgrade on the last few managers ffs.

Seriously, who would you realistically want?

I was happy with Roy Keane, the club needs a massive jolt of high standards

Very worrying that he’s said no, either the club have scrimped on the contract or even more worryingly haven’t been able to match his ambition

Momentum is huge in sport and we don’t have any

Can someone please just reiterate again that Preston North end is not Sunderland AFC. what he did there is of no relevance whatsoever to what he is about to walk into.

As we know if we have 10 minutes of poor football the manager and players are hounded. will he cope with this? Lose 1 game and this board for example will go up in flames.

He is totally untested at a big club. a complete novice.
Another one hiding under a new account just to slag off the fans.

He got Norwich promoted to the prenisr league after getting Hamilton promoted to the SPL.

He’s a completely different level to both Parkinson and Grayson

Both over 7 years ago and one in a different country at a far lower standard.

Since his 3rd place at Norwich he’s been relegated and not made even the playoffs each season and he’s been sacked twice.

Agree on the Parkinson and Grayson points.

We will lose 12 players during the summer - 5 loans and 7 out of contract. If season ticket sales go badly due to this appointment and us not going up yet again - then Neil will probably be sold to balance the books. It'll be bargain basement time likely as not as I doubt The Chuckle Brothers will put any money in.

We are right on the edge here IMHO. We must go up or the place could go up!! Pressure is enormous on Neil right from the off.

Rishton...I only went to Preston about twice, other than changing trains till I left home for Uni at 17.

I went to school in Accy and Blackburn was my town
