Alex Neil - New head coach confirmed

Pleased with this if it happens. Would have liked Neil when Johnson was appointed, but he seemed unrealistic at the time as was still doing pretty well with PNE. It's good to see that Norwich and PNE fans seem to have good things to say about him (compared to McCann for example, who at least one of the Hull fans on here couldn't stand).

I know everyone was excited about Keane, but this feels like a sensible appointment that fits in with the direction the club wants to take. Whether or not that direction and the people overseeing it are what we want/need is a discussion for another thread.

Not really, he didn’t storm the Championship they went up via the playoffs and were subsequently relegated the following season. He then couldn’t get a tune out of them back in the Championship until Farke rocked up and breezed it.

They would have known his demands from the start though. If they were not acceptable then you move on. It would appear we’ve tried to negotiate for well over a week, in the hope things change.

They’ve been interviewing a number of people. I’m sure negotiations with Keane will have been about money, length of contract, who has control, back up staff etc and they no doubt got to the point where it didn’t work. Negotiations are more than just ‘This is what I want’. A: ‘Yes/no’.

Sinclair was our top goal scorer last year when he played out wide under Neil. But we don’t play with wingers under Lowe and he’s OOC in summer so a big wage gone thankfully.

Alex Neil is an upgrade on the last three coaches you've had, imo. If Keane was interested in the job enough to have some kind of dialogue, but wasn't motivated enough unless he got enough pieces of silver, you have dodged a bullet.

I will rephrase for Mr Pedantic. A very select few wanted Alex Neil to get the job, The significant majority didn’t want him until he was confirmed to be in final discussions today.

I think the very select few wanted Neil to get the job OUT OF THE PUBLICISED CANDIDATES until Keanes hat went into the ring.
