Also you can’t teach natural talent…some players that don’t have the goods physically had to think their way around the pitch and have a perspective that relates to teaching. Imagine Messi or Ronaldo saying just do what I would do…I can't believe people are questioning his average playing career. You look at all the top managers in the last 20 years and they either never played at a high level (Mourinho, Wenger, Benitez) or they were absolutely shite.
It is very rare you get a great player make a great manager. It does happen but it's very rare.
I'd guess the reason why people who've never played at a high level or were average players make better managers is because they love the game and want to prove in the dugout what they couldn't prove on the pitch as a player.
Neil already has a solid CV as manager. Like Norwich were I think he will be a good fit here
