Alex Neil - New head coach confirmed

This time yesterday there was the potential for hope. If a bottom half league 1 side appointed Alex Neil nobody would bat an eye lid. We needed someone to set standards and the drag the whole club up. Today we have a man who spent his career playing for airdrie, Mansfield and Hamilton.
Playing careers and managerial careers are somewhat different. Klopp, Wenger, Benitez, Ferguson, Mourinho - Keano was 10 times the player of that lot put together. However, as managers they have won Premier Leagues and Champions Leagues whereas Keane has won nowt and never will. He even denied us a bus parade when we won the Championship as he thought it wasn't worth celebrating.

Seems to have split the fans both sides of the fence. Speakman will be on his prayer mat this turns out well. If not the reaction will get quite ugly at the sol

Righto. I don’t want him to fail, I just find it amazing people are happy about it when literally nee one wanted him before he was all but confirmed. It happens all the time.
Don’t talk shite. I wanted him before LJ and I wanted him as soon as LJ was sacked. If I could be arsed to trawl through this board or my fb posts I would find the evidence but to be honest, I can’t. He’s the outstanding candidate seeing as though Wilder is no longer available.

You're not alone in feeling deflated marra.

Same old Sunderland... build you up and knock you down 😞

Thing is, if we hadn't so publicly courted Keane, the chairman hadn't gone round liking insta posts and we'd just got Neil in before Doncaster then it'd be a whole lot different.

The deflation and division is entirely of their making. Otherwise, it'd probably have been quite an astute appointment.

Don't get me wrong, I am not liking the way that we have handled the last 11 days. It has been abysmal and devastating to watch us drop like a stinking turd over that time and put in some of the most dismal and horrendous performances that I can ever remember, which has led us to being unbelievably aggravated that RK hasn't come to the club. Speakman should leave at the end of the season no matter what in my eyes.

However looking at this appointment objectively, without the disappointment of Keano not joining, this is a stellar appointment for a league one club and if he had been appointed within a couple of days of LJ getting sacked, I would have been very happy with it all.

Just absolutely shite that we have had to wait so long and pretty much ruin our own season to get him in.

I'll still get behind him though and hopefully he will have full control over transfers, especially centre half transfers, through the summer.

Which one? Can’t be the one who failed to motivate Ipswich, surely?

Who took 14 games at the start of his first full season in charge to record their first win. Who finished a mighty 15th that season. Whose Ipswich team was 21st when he was sacked the following season.

The one who got a tune out of Sunderland – admittedly – for a single season before he lost the plot. Again. For about the millionth time in his career. Who lost 7-1 at Everton. Whose final game in charge was a 4-1 defeat to Bolton (two results that are positively Johnsonian!).

The one who fell out with Niall Quinn. Niall
Quinn!

That one? Or are you thinking of someone else?
No but you can't really compare the motivational charisma of Neil to Keane😁. He wasn't perfect here and need ed to go but, he has is by far the better motivator than this chess player, surely. The Keane then had developed and learned from experience.

I'm gutted after thinking Keane had signed and have been raging Since the last game but If as expected it's announced it's Neil then i will get behind him and wish him luck for the rest of this season. We have wasted opportunities for top 2 but IF we get into the play offs and go up via a win in the final at Wembley i'll be happy as a pig in shit.
If Keane hadn't been mentioned then his appointment would have been seen as more positive than it is. It's not his fault Speakman KLD or whoever the hell is making decisions let it drag on into a farce so let's get behind him as he's at the helm now for the rest of the season at least
