Who’s never had a promotion in his life? Good idea…Might as well have kept Johnson
We always lose our ticketsPlayoffs are not a lottery mate. If they were we would have won them by now.

This time yesterday there was the potential for hope. If a bottom half league 1 side appointed Alex Neil nobody would bat an eye lid. We needed someone to set standards and the drag the whole club up. Today we have a man who spent his career playing for airdrie, Mansfield and Hamilton. He did do that although its ancient history now. It ended badly with us and indeed Ipswich.
As a manager his record is poor
I can't even remember the last time I was chuffed with an appointment, it was probably Keane first time round, maybe slightly happy with Coleman at the time.I am underwhelmed and deflated like never before.
Keane was shite there he admits this himselfThey were a basket case who reneged on the agreed budget. They sacked him and then chewed through managers and kept on sinking and are currently in a far worse case than us.
We're not hopeless but a ton of shit decisions throughout the years have landed us in this position, and hopefully we've finally got an owner and a set-up that might get us out of it but there wont be any magic bullets. This isn't FM. I personally believe that appointing Neil over Keane was the right decision to make. I simply cannot see the basis for people preferring the contrary, apart from nostalgia. And you get the reward for the first fan to send out the usual 'back him or piss off' and we saw that in the Summer and that at its core is why we really are a hopeless club.
There was definitely a verbal agreement, obviously you expect these things to get sorted and ironed out, but when people said Andy Reid was going to be his assistant I went against thatPeople were saying it was done. Not saying you were one of them, but that was quite clearly shite.
“New member” marra.I'm just not pissing my knickers over appointing a decent manager. Who would you have preferred out of interest?

I'm in. Good luck, Alex!![]()
Magesque behaviour from a probable mag. Why? We will always be down in league 1 if this is the attitude. “Let’s just accept it and support him”, how about we do something about it and drive the owners out and not accept being a league 1 also-ran?
I don’t think appointing Alex Neil is the problem…it was keeping Johnson after last season. If Neil comes out Saturday and has the team pressing and playing a high tempo, in your face kind of game…who’s not gonna enjoy that?? At the very least it will be something entirely different than what the last 5 managers provided!Who should we have got in your opinion ? Which magical manager out there would come to Sunderland in league 1 and get us instant promotion?
Very much this for me. I wanted Keane to come in but deep down knew it was a massive risk as he is so volatile and been out of the game for so long. We're a League 1 club getting Alex Neil, why are people spitting their dummies out? Surely this is a rather ambitious appointment? People's judgements are massively clouded by Keane falling through, for reasons unknown to us all. Back our Baldy master or piss off permanently, please?
