Not massively in favour but i'll support anyone new at this point we need to get him appointed tonight so he can have a day training with the team tomorrow.
 
We aren’t appointing anyone until Twitter unban the SAFC.com account.

Don’t know much about Roberts but I reckon Clarke will be perfect for the way AN wants to play. It’s a very intense system and he requires his wingers to do a lot of defensive work as well as attacking which Clarke will be suited to from his Leeds days so hopefully he can replicate that form for you lot.

Edit - Just realised it’s Patrick Roberts, forgot you’d just signed him. IF he can replicate his Celtic form then it’s going to be an enjoyable end to the season.

I posted this last week but worth repeating here as it appears to back up what the PNE fans have said here today.

I have a bunch of pals who are ST holders at Carrow Road. One sent me this text last week:

‘So. Alex Neil: would be a good appointment for Sunderland, I think. Direct speaker, knows what he wants and what I really liked about him was that when we played a team twice, the second time we always won (this applies to Championship), if we hadn’t the first time. He learns. There were a couple of minuses - not using Maddison at first when it was obvious he was brilliant, losing his nerve against Newcastle away, but the pluses outnumber them.’

Direct speaker = the Anti-LJ

Probably the best of a bad bunch...at least he has promotions on his CV opposed to LJ.

Hardly an inspiring appointment mind and not one we should have been waiting 2 bloody weeks for either. 2 "easy" games that we should have won pissed away.

Honestly he sounds a bit like a 2022 updated version of Mick Mac, and I mean that as a compliment. Back to back promotions are the target, and I feel he could have it in him if backed.

Also worst thing I’ve read so far is PNE fans saying that he will like Gooch 😢
 
I'm genuinely positive about the idea of appointing Neil. Certainly a better option than McCann and an upgrade on LJ. I'd also be happy with someone like Rob Edwards or a young up and coming coach. The issue is that the fiasco over the last 10 days will put Neil, or whoever it is on, the back foot. We should be going in to Saturday will some momentum from the last 2 games and a coach having had some time on the training pitch. Neither of which will be true.

If it is Neil they should have had him in place with a week at worst - and that's allowing time it should have taken to approach Keane and resolve if he was or was not willing to take the job.
