Alex Neil - New head coach confirmed

Is he capable of seeing what’s going wrong during a game and changing it?
Aye. A thing that I, and the slightly younger part of the North End fanbase liked about AN, is the way he speaks in press conferences. He always explains his decisions from a tactical point of view. It's not always what fans want to hear after a loss or a defeat (especially the slightly older ones), but his knowledge of football is class and you'll find yourself becoming more knowledgeable about the game just listening to his press conferences.

The Alex Neil era at Preston North End will always be remembered as an opportunity missed, through little to no fault of his.

@Janiejones - he doesn’t like wingers? we are even more in the shit then as we have about 10 on the books
I don’t think that’s true about preferring full backs to wingers. With us he played a 4-2-3-1 system and I would say the two wide men are the most important part to the system in terms of attacking. He prefers a right footer on the left and left footer on the right, who will cut inside to attack and create chances.
Look what he did with Callum Robinson in his final season before his move to the Prem.

Since he was appointed at Norwich and his success there I have always thought that Alex Neil would be the perfect fit for us and would manage us one day ( although admittedly not in League 1…)
Admittedly I would have prefered Keano to come back but honestly believe that Neil i think is the next best option.
I know he is not everyones cuppa but for me ive always thought him to have a bit of Fergie, Moyes and indeed Roy Keane in his makeup.
I do think he is a winner and will demand high standards…..i also think he could inject some steel back into the club ( like Keano ) which is desperately needed as we have been way too soft both on and off the pitch since big Sam left .
I never ever thought this

The problem is he’s a f***ing wanker
That's an opinion and not related to whatever point Nelson! might have been trying to make. Regardless of his habits, and i might agree with you on those, i still don't think the bloke holds any sway at all at the club anymore and is only hanging around the place and KLD because doing so affords him some reflected status and glamour, which he clearly likes. Read that Oldie article - it's a shame he had cancer and i hope he is in full recovery, but even he concedes he has an ego on him.

I have come round to accept him as the least worst option. However, even if he does get us up, he'll be fighting a relegation battle next season unless the last vestiges of Madrox and their lackeys are finally purged from the club in the summer.

Sounds more promising, we like to invert our wide men here too occasionally
