My home town team is Hamilton Accies so I've watched Alex Neil as a player, player manager and manager. Accies had a budget of pretty much zero and he was very astute in his signings, mostly frees. Players seem to enjoy playing for him, character a bit like Alec Rae, no nonsense, organised approach. If it's him I think he'll do well here.
Always liked Rae, one my favourite players from the 90’s.

That will be crucial for next year if we don't go up, as reducing the budget will be a necessity and a priority. We should be looking at how Rotherham utilise their's and how they recruit at this level.

Quick look on a PNE forum they seem to think he’d be a good appointment

Can’t believe the reaction of the entitled Sunderland fans. He was sacked by little Preston so he must be shit!
Appointing a manager who finished 7th, 14th and 9th in the Championship with a bottom 6 budget whilst constantly selling key players is a real coup for them. Has history of getting promoted through the play offs with Norwich and Hamilton as well.

Feels a bit like every other time. Two candidates left, and we’ll end up with the one we least want! Cant remember who was in the running when we appointed Parky, but he was everyone’s last choice!
Got a feeling it'll still be McCann. Meltdown would be justified imo

No issue with Neil really. Will you get much better at this level?
I don't believe you would tbf.
Seems as good an appointment as we could realistically get. And let's face it probably less if a risk than Keane.

Pritchard will be buzzing anyway. His mint spell at Norwich was with Neil as manager

Convinced this could actually be a decent appointment.

Far better than McCann anyway. Although it McCan’t get much worse.

He's nowt like Grayson tbf. Neil is still a young manager who is quite highly thought of at the clubs he's managed.

I get the disappointment of Keano not coming but we need to move on and move on quickly. Neil on the face of things seems a reasonable appointment

Aye he’s decent

I was really pissed off we'd bottled Keane for mccan but I think it'd be OK getting Neil. My only problem is. If Keane said no the first time. We should have just gone for Neil Monday

Ben Pearson was always the sitter (arguably one of the best in the league when he wasn’t suspended) and either Daniel Johnson or Paul Gallagher next to him, they were the progressive ball players and were very important in terms of creativity. So maybe Pritchard could fill that position as well.
Thanks. Sounds like potential for a D Neil and Matete pairing then.

Pritchard played more advanced for Neil at Norwich.
