Alex Murdaugh case in USA.

Says something about South Carolina that the dude (rich and white, naturally) is facing more time for the financial crimes than he is for a double murder.

Think an illegal immigrant named Raul or a random Black dude wouldn't be looking at the death penalty for this?

Yeah, why wasn't he up for the death penalty ?

Double murder is automatically a capital punishment case.

I'm not even going to watch whatever Youtube absurdity you're posting.

There was a trial, with a jury that listened to all the evidence and returned unanimous verdicts on multiple counts.

So, yes, there was enough evidence. As much as people may not like it, circumstantial evidence is still evidence. It didn't help that this guy absolutely hammered himself on the stand: admitting to a litany of other felonies without batting an eyelash, and then managing to look like a child caught stealing candy when presented with accusations of murder. It was a a weird set of testimony.

For the future, when people ask why defense lawyers often don't have their clients take the stand, that is why: a guy who should be able to do a good job - a trained and experienced lawyer - making himself look guilty as all hell when he's sitting there in front of a jury.

Just finished this, It’s crazy how much you can get away with when you have a bit of reputation and money. I do think there are a lot of people getting away Scot free for helping the family cover everything up over the years mind, they must of needed loads of people taking brown envelopes to keep them out of prison for that long. Coppers, officials, doctors you name it they’d of been on the payroll.
