when he joins the t20 side it will be my saviour

barring injury, 20/20 cricket being the first choice for more and more cricketers, the standard of test attacks maintaining their downward curve and test wickets maintaining their current flat nature bar the odd track, Cook will beat Tendulkars test record

Cook will only get better and will on average get 3 100s per calender year for the next 10 years so another 30 approx

Do you seriously think hes going to get more hundreds than tendulkar?

Another 30 hundreds man, settle down ffs

Hes got 23 hundreds in 6 years and has had plenty of barren periods where hes had to develop his game - you would expect him to score more than 23 in the next 6 years now hes starting them as a complete player. Much depends on Cook's desire for the game and how long he chooses to play.

Could Cook if he played the game in to his mid to late 30's beat Tendulkars runs record?

It is Tendulkar that has it?

The list of batsmen who have scored more than 10,000 test match runs is as follows:

1. Tendulkar 15,645
2. Ponting 13,378
3. Dravid 13,288
4. Kallis 12,980
5. Lara 11,953
6. Border 11,174
7. S Waugh 10,927
8. Chanderpaul 10,696
9. Jayawardene 10,652
10. Gavaskar 10,122

Cook is currently 40th on the list with 7,104 runs. He is currently averaging almost 82 per test match so would need to play another 104 tests scoring at his current rate to beat Tendulkar's record, assuming the little fella retires after this test.

It's certainly possible but would be one hell of an achievement.

Barring the above factors remaining pretty constant, will comfortably beat Tendulkar.

Do you seriously think hes going to beat tendulkars record?

You're pinning your hopes on him having another 10 year like the one hes just had, he's got no chance IMO

Cook's problem might come when people start questioning his captaincy. The English press loves nothing more than trying to damage sporting heroes. Although he appears a level-headed lad, it could severely damage his self-belief.
