You couldn't have picked more different players mind. One was a greedy fucker out and out scorer. The other gets slated for not being greedy enough.
 
He went for a British record transfer fee in 1996.

The British transfer fee now is about £57m and that was Man Utd paying for Di Maria, a Madrid substitute, so you'd have to imagine a transfer fee for Shearer now would be at least £70m.

He went for a world record fee so you're talking bale numbers for shearer in his prime. The injury ravaged shearer who played for the mags would fetch a good 5 to 10 million as well.
 
Nee way would he get away with backin into players, using his elbows etc...however It kills me to say he was the best around bsck then apark from pens like ;)
