The scout watching Gray told Mick that he was nowhere near good enough and he still insisted we went for it. Blackburn had realised they’d signed a dud with Stead and were touting him out to champ clubs willing to pay 50% of wages. They were stunned when another pl club actually wanted to buy him and amazingly we still managed to sell him. I think only Warnock and McCarthy were old school enough to rate him

Wasn't there something weird with the keepers too where we had 3 decent ones (Sorensen, Myhre, Macho maybe?) and then spunked our entire winter budget on Poom?

Makes you laugh when we had Steele, the dutch lad, and then bought Camp...or cry

Nah, I reckon a loan IN January after missing so much of the season with injury, best to keep him around the club so he can be monitored for now.
 
Have a feeling he will be the player who really kicks on this season which nobody expects. He's a unit like and seems to fit in well with the group. One to watch for sure..doubt he will go out on loan.

Fully expected him to be quite raw after getting him from Jong Gent but he looked really accomplished in his brief u21 appearances. Could be a secret weapon for us.
 
Really like the look of Ahmed in the small bits of footage i've seen.

He should be learning from Mayenda, they have similar attributes and i'm sure the success of Mayenda in 2025 will inspire Ahmed to kick on.

Would like to see him lead the U23 for first half of season as we can't just loan out every development player. if he is doing well give him some bench time where possible and opportunities in cup games then ship him out on loan in January to a sensibly positioned Championship/League 1 team.
 
I have a very good feeling about him. A good preseason he need and let's see how good he is. I can see him potentially a great player. Its just the way his body do. Reminded me a bit of lukabu when he played for Chelsea

21 goals in 38 games for jong gent before he signed shows he will have something to offer.. we shall see
