The club weren't at trial here just Adam Johnson, they had nothing to be 'tricked' over. Why would they hand it straight back? They would need to absorb every word of those documents for their own safeguarding purposes. Absolutely inconceivable that they would not.

I was meaning to protect the club from the kind of bad press we're currently getting,rather than suggesting we did anything illegal. It's the image of the club which is being damaged and she could be said to have that as one of her job descriptions,and would seem to be qualified to manage that side of our operations.

She is CEO and not responsible for interpreting or advising on legal matters. The Club retain London based lawyers who provide support and advice to SAFC companies. There was specialist legal advice taken and the actions of the Club were taken based upon that advice as the statement indicates. The scenario where Margaret Byrne seems to act completely independently and is entirely the driver for decisions and actions over Johnson's situation being painted by some on here is laughable.

Iirc was he not shown, early in the trial, to have lied in his interviews with the police?

I think it's then unreasonable to try and decide which things he said (at that time) were true and which were not, given he admitted he was confused and trying to wriggle out (not his words, but the meaning still stands) of what he was being questioned about.

He could reply to a FB message requesting a shirt, and then arrange to deliver it. Giving a peck on the cheek when saying goodbye. This is probably as much as he admitted to at the time, and he pretty much said so in court.
Clubs can't control their players when they're not at work, but codes of conduct should probably be much more strict.

I'm hoping we don't miss this opportunity to look at the behaviour of young adults, and try to work out ways to discourage them from putting themselves at risk. As for the smart phones and the internet being to blame what tripe....The club just like schools etc operate in a world where social media and the internet are now normal......Teens get crushes on their teachers all the time, surely you would not blame anybody but the teacher if anything happened as a result of that crush and surely if the school became aware of it and did not ensure that teacher was never near another child then you would be up in arms. The standard approach is to suspend a teacher on full pay till the case is resolved, despite the fact many accusations ultimately prove to be malicious, its how we keep kids safe from those who do have bad intentions.

Presumably, those with the strength of their convictions will stay away until Short has gone. Otherwise they will lose credibility.

Yes he did.

But he also admitted kissing her. And messaging her. And she allegedly had those messages.

TBH I think this whole thread comes back to what Cockney Mackem keeps saying. If SAFC have nothing to hide on this they should come out and set the facts out, because at the moment our brand is getting seriously tarnished.

Minor, Juvenile,Someone under the age of consent but not really child unless you want to make what happened even more horrendous than it was which is what media and some supporters are doing.
