Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

I think that there are a number of questions regarding the police's conduct that need answering.

The statement to the BBC made me sit up, yet apart from you, no one seems to have mentioned it.

The female detective seemed to be second guessing the victim's feelings towards SAFC's decision to continue to play Johnson.

I can't recall seeing that before. The case may well have finished but the judge has yet to pass sentence.

Furthermore, wouldn't the same police have not been involved in any safeguarding reviews carried out by the club?

If so, what was their input at the time?

The David Conn Guardian article is worth a read. He poses some interesting questions regarding the conduct of Johnson's case.

Once sentencing is completed, apart from the usual prurient media shitstorm that will inevitably follow, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the conduct of one or two others is called to account.

He puts the boot in on SAFC and the PFA like. Both need to explain a lot more.

But why do you care ? What will it change ? The lads fucked up and he'll get his just deserts but haway man half the adult male population frequenting most of the bars i went in, in various towns in the 90s wants 10yr if thats the case.

I really dont care one bit what the club did or didnt know. Surely an employee deserves some loyalty from an employer to a certain extent. Especially when that employee could bag you 100 million :)

Dunno who you hung around with who groomed a child they met at work over a period of time

No they haven't. They've just interpreted it differently to you. Get over it, and realise that not everyone sees evidence in the same way. That's why juries sometimes fail to reach decisions.

What words mean in the English language are not that open to interpretation. It is completely evident what has happened and some people are just choosing to ignore it. That's why when people have been challenged they've failed to pinpoint how it is open to interpretation.

But yes, this idea of it all being open to interpretation like that is very innovative, the Oxford English Dictionary team will have a challenge with their next edition if that's how it works now.

According to some Italian media outlets we've already coughed up the money. Just because the club say nowt doesn't mean it hasn't happened

There's a theme developing here
Hadn't heard that. You're suggesting that they came to an agreement then, or gave in completely?

Has the criminal system done its job, or simply made a bad situation worse. If you have been the parent of a 15 year old girl you will have an insight to their experimenting and learning about life at the same time as being insecure and emotionally incapable of making the correct decisions ....that's why they are still regarded as being children.

Now finding herself in a position whereby she realised she had become involved in something with unpleasant and unforeseen consequences was bad enough for her and her parents to deal with. However the legal system then proceeded to put them through hell for a year, whilst the arrogant selfish adult lived his life as if innocent in the public eye. It was clear from the evidence that the torture of this last year and the lies Johnson spun have damaged the girl as much as if not more than the event itself. There should be a law where cases which include children are dealt with in a very specific time frame. I hate to think of the hell that girl and her family have gone through unnessarily because of the legal system . I wonder if her parents even think if it was worthwhile given the damage it may have done.

On much less important level the accusations being thrown at safc would have been pretty much irrelevant if the timescale had not left them to balance the morale dilemma of doing the right thing and that of working to the letter of the law and respecting Johnsons rights.

The legal system failed the girl and her family and Sunderland football club and the public at large in not dealing with this promptly. That it got the correct outcome is a blessing because that girls life would have been destroyed with the only winners being the highly paid legal profession .
Any chance that you can put into your post the little fact that she obviously bragged about her 'conquest' to those who she thought were her mates?

Why man hew. 80s /90s there was probably more underaged people in bars on a friday or saturday than legal ones. I should know i was one of them and if i could of got me hands into a 25yr old bewer I'd of been off like a shot

I cant grasp why the mods havent ditched it?

Why would they ditch it? It's an important topic for SAFC, it's all being kept in the same thread, it isn't libellous or illegal. Why the fuck would they delete it? Or can we not talk critically about the club?

Let's hope there was no improprieties in the lead up to this case that Johnson's legal team can cry foul about-otherwise that appeal will go ahead and there's probably a chance his conviction could be ruled unsafe.................imagine that !
Oh and I still support our club and the players 100%, Sunderland til I die :p

Getting with a 15 year old in a bar is v different to what AJ did and if he had simply got with someone in a bar this wouldn't be such an issue. He wouldn't even be facing prison.

The issue is the grooming over time.

They will. It will be soon forgotten about you idiot.

The storm will die down. But stuff will keep coming out for days. Then we have the sentencing and all future court cases (if theres appeals) where info can be submitted.

It will linger on.
