Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

Probably shouldn't bandy sentences like that about, particularly when it's more likely the naive ones are those who blindly accept anything the club does.

No, the complete opposite

The naive ones are the ones believing the words of a convicted sex offender who lied about his crimes from day one, but who choose to believe everyword he has to say here.

That is naive

Hope that helps

NSPCC are clearly in on the conspiracy too.

If he'd been found 'not guilty' there'd have been some other organisation 'pillorying' the club if they'd suspended him.

Human rights, innocent before being proved guilty, restriction of trade, sponsors rights etc etc etc.

Newspapers filling pages eh ....... who's have thought it

100 page thread. Sad times.

I'd rather we all simply refused to talk about him, and washed our hands of the entire thing never to be spoken of again.

"Sunderland AFC made a “catastrophic error of judgment” when they allowed Adam Johnson to continue playing despite knowing he privately admitted kissing a 15-year-old schoolgirl, child protection experts have said."

Chile protection experts

No wonder they're taking the chance to deflect attention after their shameful failures at Rotherham etc ........ dear me.
Safeguarding is a massive part of my job. In my experience there are very few experts, just people who make lots of noise once the deed has been done.

You know how this works? The Guardian ring up people specifically for the quote they want, they could have got a quote saying the opposite if they wanted mate. But they didn't want to, as this is a better story for them. Its called journalism.

Who, apart from the knackers on here, do you think will be positive about how the club handled this...

Not just johnsons words the words are from his team too, are you saying they lied in a court of law for him?.

You keep saying that majority how the fuck do you know like, nearly everyone I know season ticket holders the lot of them aren't too happy the way the club have handled it and want more information re evidence they knew of.

This thread is a good signal, have you read it all the way through? You obviously haven't, its massively in favour of SAFC on this one like

Nothing to do with me, I just can have eyes and can read.

One of my senior employees is arrested for a sex offence.
He tells me in a meeting with his QC that he kissed the alleged victim and sent her texts and provides me with transcripts of the police interview and texts.
Separately the police warn me of my child protection obligations.
I am a lawyer who has practised criminal law.

Do I spend an afternoon reviewing the evidence for myself or not?

Hmm.tricky..

From the club's POV:

You may review the documentation, but ultimately you would send everything -along with your notes - to your own legal/HR team for guidance

Not just johnsons words the words are from his team too, are you saying they lied in a court of law for him?.

I couldn't give a shit, I have said many times, it is totally irrelevant. The club did everything by the book

If you have a problem morally with the decision, that is fine, but the club are fine from a legal standpoint, and that is all that matters.

So they allowed him back without knowing the full situation then?. Either way they don't come out of this looking good mate.
I think that it will just go away.

If it doesn't, then, unfortunately, merely sacking senior figures will not make it go away, either.

That's just not true... nobody would have a go at the club for suspending a player accused of using his position as a player, at the training ground, to sexually abuse a child.

Who, apart from the knackers on here, do you think will be positive about how the club handled this...

The fans who go to the games, there is usually 40k of them, who are the lifeblood of the club

I couldn't give a flying fuck what a few tabloid newspaper thinks

hope that helps.

Erm, hang on a minute. The club statement said "some documents were received" and brushed right past it. If Johnson lied about what was in those documents, why not say so? They've already said he was planning to plead not guilty the whole way to the trial, so why not further absolve themselves of any wrongdoing if they were in fact entirely clueless?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with people wanting a clearer statement.

Because it only came out in court and if they said out then it would have been prejudicing the trial...
Which is exactly the position the club found themselves in. His legal team knew exactly what they were doing and made sure he got another 12 months wages. I'm saying nothing else and sticking to football talk, I'm out of here.
