Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

Johnson pleaded not guilty to charges last year, why would he have told the club he'd done it but then pleaded not guilty last year? He then went on to plead guilty and the club sacked him a day later, he bullshitted the club all along, the club were pressurised by the PFA as he argued that all charges were false and he'd fight them all, they were protecting their employer and the club were in a situation where they either sacked him then or stuck with him, they took his word that he was not guilty and re instated him.

I'm sickened that this person played for our club after what he had done, however I fully believe that the club thought he was pleading not guilty to all charges.

That should not come into it at all if they had the evidence that is suggested. Why should Sunderland give a fuck what he is going to plead when he has admitted to what he has if they had the evidence to hand?

I honestly think they've given us much information as you'd expect without turning it into a 'he said / we said' self-defeating argument (they obviously want to diffuse matters and not give as little credence to Johnson as possible).

Namely: -
"Some documents were received relating to the case, which were immediately sent to Mr. Pownall for his attention. However, the club was not in a position to make any judgment on the outcome of the case nor on Mr. Johnson’s decision to defend all the allegations. Following that meeting, Mr. Johnson again confirmed to the club, presumably on advice from his own legal team, that his intention was to defend the charges in their entirety and he was confident of success once all evidence had been considered. He subsequently entered not guilty pleas to all charges on 6 June 2015"

That covers it for me. There's an awful lot about the running of our club in recent seasons that I could take them to task over. And PR has been a real area we've consistently failed in - but on this score the club have given an adequate answer.

Now IF that answer is proven to be less than truthful then it's a different discussion. But - as stated above - you believe it or you don't. I don't have any evidence that they've lied so I have to go with it.
I honestly don't think they've given as much information as I'd expect. I had 3 questions when this first came out during the trial. They haven't answered them at all, and it would have been very easy to have done that. It reeks of hiding the truth.

The fact that he hasn't shown any remorse is rather sickening aswell, he strutted in and out of court like he did on and off a football pitch, the bloke explained himself well when he said he was an arrogant rich man.

You lied saying he lied about "almost every aspect of the case". I'm pointing out you were inaccurate.

He lied about knowing the girl was 15, lied about the cast on his hand, lied during his police interviews, lied about the extent of the relationship with the girl - in other words everything important to his case but aye feel free to play semantics

It's a fair point

Why haven't the club denied the allegation they had all the whatsapp's and he told them he'd kissed her?

Everyone should read this who thinks the club's statement was ok: good summary in my opinion and worth a read by anyone. From Louise Taylor...

Whovever in the club, on receipt of the evidence and info they'd been given, decided it was ok to unsuspend Johnson needs f***ing hoofed out.The change in Johnsons plea was irrelevant as far as I'm concerned.

It will now look as if a decision has been made to protect the team at the detriment to the reputation of the club. It's difficult not to be cynical and assume that someone in the club thought he'd get off with it and it'll all disappear. It's f***ing sour !

Agreed completely.

If SAFC are innocent in all this then there isn't that much they need to say to prove it. The current statement was a a cop out and I really hope they can refute the allegations. Otherwise Byrne should be sacked, but unfortunately it's hard to imagine only she knew (if she did) and not the rest of the boardroom.

Sorry state of affairs imo.

Honestly I'm pleased he lied to the club because he scored that goal against Newcastle.
Now though, I hope he gets anally raped on a weekly basis in prison. The dirty snide is despicable on a human being level, but his position as a Sunderland player makes it even more shocking. He's dragged the clubs name through the shit with him the arrogant, ugly, creepy bastard. He epitomises everything that's wrong with the world, people would kill to have his talent and opportunities and he's texting 15 year olds on the sly and thinking he's getting away with it. I'd be embarrassed if he was 24 or something, but 28. Sickening. At least jimmy Seville kept it undercover, the thick f***ing pervert

I thought that would have rolled in with the change of plea, not sure why not

Because I could show you the whatsapp messages I sent, and admit I kissed someone, but still maintain I'm pleading guilty?

What evidence is presented and what you say you are going to plead are totally different...
