Adam Johnson appeal

It is harsh...

He gave a tickle and got 6.......women teachers do it 20times full sex and get a suspended.

Well the club could've handled it better I guess.

That'll be mentioned, but Byrne's not with your club anymore and I doubt SAFC will comment, so that angle doesn't have legs.

With this latest appeal refused, this unpleasant part of Sunderland's history will quieten down again for a while.

Johnson's appeal won't be the biggest 'sports' story today, let alone in the weeks and months to come. There'll be much more attention paid to relegation fallout (or miracle survival), and financial woes.

6yrs for fingering a child isn't harsh. Suspension for having sex with a child is far too lenient.

People usually call for child sex offenders to be disemboweled on here, if you score a few goals against the mags though even just a 6 year jail sentence is "unfair". The bloke is a waste of space and deserves every day of his 6 year sentence. Fuck him. Overrated as a player IMO too for what it's worth.

One thought that has occurred to me - could he not have basically paid off the victim/her family to drop the case (like Michael Jackon did with that kid)? Or does our legal system not work like that?

I can't even fathom the damage I would do to a man that did that to my daughter. Any parent would do the same.

That would be interpreted as an admission of guilt though and he maintained he done nothing wrong until the trial.

eh? If I were you I'd not take condemnation of a sex offender as a comment on your club.

Sure, he'll be referred to as "Ex-Sunderland star Adam Johnson", but that prefix isn't a way for the national press to action some imagined vendetta against your club.

As if the fourth estate got together and decided to drag your clubs name through the muck for... what? shits and giggles?
They didn't get their fill at the time.

The supporter chants before the trial - the "continued lack of regard for the victim" from fans and club, as a very well respected Times journalist described it, are lodged long in the memory.

There remains an element of unpleasant social media content which believes he should never have been jailed - apparantly there's a vocal section of our fanbase who still believe he has been badly treated by the judicial system based on this thread alone.

In fact some seem to see him as a "hero" even still.

Worrying.

I mean, he also said

AJ: "Confident aren't you? Am I only getting a kiss?"

SG: "Depends on what else you're after"

AJ: "I dunno, it depends what you are up for.. a little bit more than a kiss"

SG: "Like?"

AJ: "A bit of feeling. Just see. No pressure. Lol"

AJ: "Keep deleting our convos"

They next meet on January 30th when the sexual activity allegedly took place in the car park behind a Chinese takeaway. Afterwards they exchange more messages.

AJ: "Wasn't bad, was it?"

AJ: "Think we better go in the back next time."

AJ: "It was class. Just wanted to get your jeans off"

SG: "Next time haha"

AJ: "I will last 10 seconds tho lol"

So I wouldn't suggest the entire case rests on one text. The above are clearly him grooming her as he pursues sexual activities with someone he knows to be under the legal age of consent. Asking if he'd "only" getting a kiss. Suggesting "a bit of feeling". Trying to convince her to do more.

People can argue the validity of an arbitrary age of consent, they can try and claim she was 'up for it', or that his sentence is too harsh because other sentencing has been more lenient, but the bloke's a wrong'un, he manipulated then fiddled with a child and I'm glad he's not in a position to sexually take advantage of any other children.
.....

When did it start marra? And why do mags always flock to Johnson threads?

On your post directly above this one, silly.

It's because we find kiddly fiddling reprehensible marra but you'll paint it as being solely because he used to be pivotal in the defeats we had to yourselves over the years. No doubt you'll cite Cisse and the photoshop job next.

You should read it again then, silly.

on the flip side maybe those with daughters are allowing their hypothetical emotions to cloud their judgement on the situation.
Exactly this, are people really shocked that a 15 year old lass from Sunderland was involved in some sexual activity?
