Abdullah Ba

He definitely had technical ability, he just had no footballing brain whatsoever.

I'm not sure he even knew the offside rule.

Yeah, he was frustrating at times!
I do think moving him from being a defensive midfielder to a winger caused some of his problems aswell. Learning a completely new position in the Championship must be hard!

Ba was a punt..simple as that. Lauded as a talent in his early days and dropped off
Michut was a great example of that
All the talent but not enough dedication.
Just looked - Michut seemingly carving out a career at Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie. 20 apps this season. Any avid viewers of Dutch football know how he’s done there?

The lad should have been a fixture in the u21s last season trying to raise his value a bit. Rather than rotting not playing any football at all.
I watched him play for the 21’s and expected him to shine but he failed to standout at all . Doesn’t look like he has the dedication to become a top level footballer and when you’ve got the likes of Le Bris and Xhaka in the squad, the minimum expected is effort and dedication.

Whether you thought "there's a player there" or not, I don't think anyone could work out his best position, Abdullah Bah included. Is he an attacking or holding central midfielder? Winger? Number 10? I was never sure and I'm not sure the coaching staff were either.

To be fair I've watched the likes of Harrison Jones in the u21s all season who barely looked like he has a future in the game and he trained with the 1st team and on the bench plenty this season.

That's not to mention is brother Jaydon who can't even pass the ball 5 yards

I think he did play a half or two for the U21 side last season before going out on loan. Don't know what he's been doing this season, presumably trying to find somewhere to park at the training ground.

It is a bit strange he went from being a first team regular to nowhere near. While I don't think it was the wrong decision to take him out of the team you'd think he'd just drop slightly down the pecking order, make some appearances off the bench, maybe go out on a loan that would have helped his development. It was more like the loan he went on was just to get him out of the way.

While the decision to it didn't do us any harm on the pitch, ultimately moving away from these lads is what got us promoted, Jewison Bennette mentioned some tension behind the scenes.

Reflecting on that period, Bennette claims he sought clarity directly from the head coach after being frozen out of matchday squads. “I managed to have a conversation with the coach who, at that time, had given me playing time — I think more than 20 games with the first team. Then suddenly, he took me off the roster and never used me again.

“So I had a conversation with him to find out what the reasons were, what I could improve, and what I needed to work on, because I wanted to continue having that opportunity. What he told me was that the sporting director didn’t let him make certain decisions — that the players he brought in were the ones who had to play.

“The ones the sporting director brought in, exactly, because I was brought in by Sunderland’s scouting department, not by the sporting director. There was some kind of rivalry between the two of them. He didn’t have permission to use me. I shook his hand and thanked him for his honesty. That’s when I spoke with my dad, told him what was happening, and said that the best thing was to leave.”

What? I've consistently said if you're searching for hidden gems for small outlay you'll have more misses than hits. Speakman done a superb job on the footballing side. The evidence is staring all of us in the face
Yep.

No idea why fans expect every single transfer to work out.

Same ones that write players off after a few games.
