Thunder Road
Midfield
A one 80-90% of us could see was never going to make in it even the championship.
He definitely showed at times that he was more than upto that level. He struggled with consistency. Which at his age is understandable

He definitely had technical ability, he just had no footballing brain whatsoever. He definitely showed at times that he was more than upto that level. He struggled with consistency. Which at his age is understandable
Norwich and QPR (a goal and 2 assists in that game if I remember correctly) stick in the mind, everything else is a bit of a blurStill blows my mind how he played 66 games for us and I can barely recall a single second of it.
He definitely had technical ability, he just had no footballing brain whatsoever.
I'm not sure he even knew the offside rule.
Just looked - Michut seemingly carving out a career at Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie. 20 apps this season. Any avid viewers of Dutch football know how he’s done there?Ba was a punt..simple as that. Lauded as a talent in his early days and dropped off
Michut was a great example of that
All the talent but not enough dedication.
I watched him play for the 21’s and expected him to shine but he failed to standout at all . Doesn’t look like he has the dedication to become a top level footballer and when you’ve got the likes of Le Bris and Xhaka in the squad, the minimum expected is effort and dedication. The lad should have been a fixture in the u21s last season trying to raise his value a bit. Rather than rotting not playing any football at all.
He also gave long-term contracts to Hume, Onien, Cirkin, Ekwah, Jobe, Roberts, Clarke, Ballard, Pritchard, Stewart, Wyke.Speakman gave him a five year contract in 2022. One for @Rocky77
To be fair I've watched the likes of Harrison Jones in the u21s all season who barely looked like he has a future in the game and he trained with the 1st team and on the bench plenty this season.I watched him play for the 21’s and expected him to shine but he failed to standout at all . Doesn’t look like he has the dedication to become a top level footballer and when you’ve got the likes of Le Bris and Xhaka in the squad, the minimum expected is effort and dedication.
That cancelled goal at Fulham...pfff. What a moment stolen away by his needless offside. Acres of space, looking down the line, no need at all.He definitely had technical ability, he just had no footballing brain whatsoever.
I'm not sure he even knew the offside rule.
I think he did play a half or two for the U21 side last season before going out on loan. Don't know what he's been doing this season, presumably trying to find somewhere to park at the training ground. The lad should have been a fixture in the u21s last season trying to raise his value a bit. Rather than rotting not playing any football at all.
Reflecting on that period, Bennette claims he sought clarity directly from the head coach after being frozen out of matchday squads. “I managed to have a conversation with the coach who, at that time, had given me playing time — I think more than 20 games with the first team. Then suddenly, he took me off the roster and never used me again.
“So I had a conversation with him to find out what the reasons were, what I could improve, and what I needed to work on, because I wanted to continue having that opportunity. What he told me was that the sporting director didn’t let him make certain decisions — that the players he brought in were the ones who had to play.
“The ones the sporting director brought in, exactly, because I was brought in by Sunderland’s scouting department, not by the sporting director. There was some kind of rivalry between the two of them. He didn’t have permission to use me. I shook his hand and thanked him for his honesty. That’s when I spoke with my dad, told him what was happening, and said that the best thing was to leave.”
Yep.What? I've consistently said if you're searching for hidden gems for small outlay you'll have more misses than hits. Speakman done a superb job on the footballing side. The evidence is staring all of us in the face
