Vast majority of people are in complete agreement that "Black lives matter" , and that racism is wrong .
What people disagree with are the political aims of the BLM organization .
Smash capitalism ??? The PL are a ruthless money making business .Are players seriously going to play for the minimum wage? Are players going to swap their luxury cars for Ford Fiestas ?
Defund the police ??? Who are players going to call when their homes are broken into ? Ghostbusters ?
Close prisons ? Are players seriously saying all murderers , rapists and paedophiles should be released from prison .
Thanks to such a stupid decision by the PL to have "black lives matter "on the back of all shirts , they have gifted legitimacy to a very dangerous organisation in BLM
Who knows what the future holds , riots , looting deaths ? But the photos of PL players with " black lives matter" on their shirts , might be looked on with the same shame as England players giving the Nazi salute before playing Germany in the 1930,s
The PL is right to fight racism , but wrong to legitimize the BLM organization
Please change the slogan to "all lives matter" , or similar .

Interesting post. You have an opinion and have provided reason. Therefore prepare to be accused of being racist, a neanderthal, a Nazi, and a big fan of Tommy Robinson.

Do you want these to be addressed or do you just want to bellyache?

First, I'm not aware these are the aims of BLM agreed by every black person. But let's have a punt regardless.

1. Defund the police

In the US some states spend 30% of their budget on policing. New York alone spends more than half the UKs entire budget for a third of the population. The spending on police there is absolutely insane, the police are practically another military.
That money could be spent on tackling the poverty that causes crime. On jobs, infrastructure, health care etc. Etc.
It could be spent on more community policing and trust building exercises.

2. Capitalism

In the US economy working people have the absolute worst deal of any major country. No holiday, health care, maternity, workplace rights. And the race disparity is ridiculous. In Boston the average hire family has 31,000 times the wealth of the average black family.
Thirty-one thousand times as well off.

You just can't run a civilised society with this kind of exploitation. It has to change and be reformed.

3. Close prisons

The US has 4% of the world population but 22% of the prison population. They put far far too many people away for too long and the sentencing is ridiculously racialised. The prison population is used as cheap labour too, so it's another form of imprisoning blacks and getting them to work cheap - which undercuts every member of the American working class. Prisons are immensely profitable enterprises in the US so there's a money incentive to lock people up as long as possible. It's an absolutely sick system that should embarrass a civilised country.

What you need to think about I'd say is this: of you're criticising taking a knee because it's inappropriate and meaningless, you can't also criticise making demands which are meaningful. You have to be consistent.

Are we part of the US now? Interesting stuff but UK related counter-points would be more debate worthy. Happy to let the Septics fight their own race battles tbf.

Ok if you're interested in the UK issue I'd recommend visiting the Runnymede trusts website and also the 'legacies of British slave-ownership' project website through UCL uni.

But I also think it's totally ok for us to be involved in something that originated in the US, and the poster was talking about the US

I agree it's ok, and I appreciate we are all humans of the same earth, but im more interested in UK issues as a UK resident.

Ok I'll have a gander at what you suggested. I'm hoping it's objective and not cherry-picked propaganda.

There is absolutely no chance of Scunny Dan, or the rest his ilk, going through the Runnymede trust website. They have somehow made it to adulthood and have still have an absolutely appalling attitude towards black people that they don’t want to change.

I'm actually amazed that you're allowed to post that sort of defamatory nonsense.

Maybe you should try reading the posts properly.

Then engaging your brain.

US workers have no holiday entitlement or healthcare? Are you sure about that?

They get something like ten days annually minimum if on a contract job. And yes famously they have no coverage if not insured, and many insurance packages have such high excesses that coverage is meaningless anyway.

Is this a substantiated fact? I doubt it. There is strict and oft-implemented legislation against any form of employment discrimination. I have sneaky feeling you are wrong.
You can have all the legislation in the world, but when a person is "overlooked" for a position because they are black, it would be very hard to prove that discrimination had taken place.

Ten days is about standard over there, it’s a different culture when it comes to holidays. This is nothing to do with racism.

My brother lives in LA, he is an ophthalmologist and his wife is a pharmacist, she gets ten and he gets a few more.

Most get health insurance through work (who have it) and according to my brother the excesses are reasonable and the service is excellent. That doesn’t help those who don’t have it, I’m not advocating the US system.

Yeah. It's shite. That's my point. Working class people in the UK have a vastly vastly better deal and ours is one of the worst in Europe.

It’s cultural, they are all obsessed with being at work all the time and visible in the office.

It’s nothing to do with racism or persecuting the working class. Doctors get the same so no one is being hard done by.

It’s so shit millions of people would move there tomorrow if they could, me being one of them.

Do I have an "appalling attitude towards black people"? Could you provide some quotes I made to make you reach this emphatic conclusion?

"Scunny Dan and the rest of his Ilk". Well touche, as I am always staggered that some people make it to (assumed) adulthood being so judgemental and arrogant. The sneering superiority leaps off the screen.

Because it doesn't happen any more?

You really believe that?

"It gets people seething 😂. Racists 😂. Tommy Robinson 😂. Brexit voted Leave 😂. EDL 😅. The Movement 😂."

There you go - copy and paste one of those. You won't have to type a post / smiley again!
