7 Years Ago Today - Charlton Playoff Final

Absolutely awful feeling watching Charlton celebrate that last minute winner. Disgraceful cowardly performance but it worked out well in the end

Only 7 years ago man.

In hindsight, one of the best things that ever happened as God knows who Donald and Methven would have flipped us to.

What an unbelievable transformation in 7 years.

Imagine if someone told you after that game that 7 years later we'd qualify for the Europa League after finishing 7th in the PL
I remember a family of 4 mags going absolutely ballistic when that goal went in where i was watching it, as if they'd been life long Charlton fans 😡
I wish I knew where the little fuckers were now 🤔🤣🤣👊

Hated every second of that game.

Think it's one of the few matches in my life I've not seen the final whistle. The second that goal went in we just got up and walked out, didn't even need to confer, just down the access and off to the tube

And as others have said, it's that which makes Sunday all the sweeter, so as shit as it was it makes me really realise how good things are right now
It really was DIRE. I'm in the US and I decided not to pay for a streaming subscription because this level of football damaged my eyes.

Not the game that springs to my mind when someone says "Charlton playoff final".

I was thinking "That can't be right, that's longer than 7 years ago..."

... for the game we drew 4-4 after extra time, where Mickey Gray missed the penalty for us to lose the shootout 7-6.

I remember thinking "there can't be many teams have scored 10 goals in a game at Wembley and lost".

Same as me, stormed out on the goal. Was back home in Newcastle in double quick time and got a load of grief at Central Station.

That whole day was flat as a fart. Dont think anyone seemed to have the fight or hope. Early injury didnt help but we never looked like having any control. Lewis Morgan was useless when he came on i think.

Suprised me just looking at the match stats, we had more shots on target and off target. My memory seemed to be we never seemed to get out of our half 😅2 shots on target and 2 goals for them.
