7 games left. How do we use them?

Do we try to get as many points as possible or shall we use them to try out new formations and tactics with a view to next year?
Personally I would try to try out new tactics to improve our attacking threat. We can't stand still and repeat tactics. People find you out and will find it easier to annul you. Standing still is going backwards.
I am amazed by our results this season - but there can be no let up - this league is relentless - Forest are an example - they are a good side with one world class player and a lot of excellent players - and still relatively in danger of relegation.
Until it's very unlikely that we make Europe it's carry on as normal.

Once that's done and dusted I imagine some of the younger lads will be blood and we might see some tactical changes.

World Cup and all that; we want our players as rested as possible. So rest them before the World Cup could be good. (so they're not fucked when they get back)

The only thing you have said which is correct is that standing still is regressing in which everyone knows.
The rest is your deliberate misinterpretation. You will know why you do som. It's not my problem.
.

So when I said you said we had no hope of getting into Europe I'd misinterpreted this?

We have no chance of classifying for Europe. Get real.

So when I said you said if we get into Europe we'd go close to going down I misinterpreted this?

And nearly get relegated in the process.

So when I said you'd prefer looking to next season over looking to win every game this season I misinterpreted this?

Do we try to get as many points as possible or shall we use them to try out new formations and tactics with a view to next year?

I mean even now, when someone has pointed out how you get a load of coin for every position you finish higher, which helps for next season, you've gone back saying aye but you might not spend it wisely etc

So you would rather piss about now and fall down the league when there is outside chance of getting in Europe ?? don’t think a manager who’s getting paid millions would risk losing his job doing this with next season in mind ? The time is now when your a manager nobody’s in the job long enough to plan for the future
Crackers innit

Pre-season is primarily for gaining fitness. Any changes in tactics should be decided now so that we can get in the players beforehand ( in an ideal world).
:lol::lol::lol:

Look lads, forget this seasons, here's the tactics for next.
Honestly man we are 3 points off 7th 😂 we are right in the mix for European qualification and people asking how do we handle the next 7 games 😂

I'm hoping RLB will have done one of his mini-campaign masterplans to get us over the line to 8th and some sort of European football

You only have to look at least Sunday to know that things are starting to work. We're beginning to get people in and around Brobbey and once we have our full compliment of first team players back, we have nothing to worry about for the coming season. We had seven shots on target last Sunday, which isn't bad, away from home to a club with a back four that consists of three England defenders and one former England stalwart.

We'll be reet.

Actually people were complaining that we don't get people near enough to Brobbey ( Diarra being signed out by some). We can't draw conclusions on the basis of one game.Where do we start from - Port Vale ( I didn't dare look at the board for two weeks) or the mags game.

We've done fine and I just want us to do better.

Brobbey wasn't playing against port vale. 🤷

Cut the dangerous crap. Where did I say sacrifice points? Your invention.
Where did I say we will go down. In your fantasy land.
Look at Forest and their wonderful sojourn in the conference league. Does that not ring any alarm bells. Palace, apart from being ransacked and pillaged, haven't enjoyed it much either.
While earning as much as possible is good, spending wisely is an absolute must. Look up the road.
Where will we finish this seaso? Around 50 points. Any advance on that?
If we did get into Europe, I would expect you to write a song about it though

Shit man That's not the point.

Try and win all the games while giving some of our more inexperienced players game time.

Id like to see Rigg playing in most of the games. Wouldn't mind seeing someone from the u21s getting ten minutes. Abdullahi for example

Heads completely gone ^

I've just posted your actual quotes.

You've had a mare.

No harm done.

Honestly, try out new tactics? Are you for real??

this is what pre season is also for not only new team gelling and fitness

If we lose the next 7 most people will want RLB out, it's not really an option to take the foot off the gas at this stage. If we get to the last couple of games with little to play for I could understand a bit of experimentation.

My problem with our tactics is we rely too much on the counter attack. In many cases that's fine, but in the typical game where you are playing at home and have to break down the opposition we need to improve our attacking options. Just look at the match threads and you will see it's a big viewpoint shared inwardly by the vast majority.
Attacking and opening up sides with a low block is very difficult - even City and Arsenal find it hard. However, it is something we have to work on and improve.

Whether we rely on counter-attacking depends entirely on how the opposition are playing.

If the opposition is pushing their defence up high, then counter-attacking is the best option.

If the opposition are sitting back with all their men behind the ball, then a more patient style is better, such as the "RLB Triangles" we play, playing out from the back, passing it around our back four in the opposition half, probing for an opening and trying to force the opposition to spread out to chase the ball.

We do both of these things and more already.

So I ask again, what are we NOT doing that you want us to experiment with?

We don’t create enough chances, but I believe we have the plAyers in the current squad to improve it’s just tweaking the system to create more, there is not a great deal wrong at this moment in time.

Try to win them. Keep the feelgood factor of a great season going. Make players want to stay and others to come. Use pre-season for trying out new tactics.
