5th test the oval

Some thin-skinned Aussies about on social media tonight. They absolutely hate losing to us. Someone earlier kicking off cos someone called them boring. 7 off 82 balls or whatever it was, 70 odd overs in a day, constant changing of gloves/bat's even in the first few minutes after walking out after lunch, deliberate time wasting, negative field placings on the first day of a game. It's difficult to think of anything else to call them tbh.
That's why I can't understand the Aussie 'love in' in the media. Only one team tried to take the game forward consistently the other was running scared most of the time. Not very champion worthy for the supposed no.1 team in the world. I can't wait until we play them down there. Hopefully we're still bazballing by then.

What a day of test match cricket that could not be predicted !!! The conditions did help, but with the aussies at 264-3, I thought the aussies would just about win with 40 overs available !

But what a fitting end for Stuart Broad, 6 with his last hit with the bat and a wicket with his last ball !!! ......howzat !!! 😊

Aussie press moaning about the bails swap as being "obscene"

Stuart Broad’s farewell act is ‘obscene’ on controversial final day of Ashes series

You cannot make this stuff up. Stuart Broad farewelled cricket in ridiculous scenes after an “obscene” moment on the final day of the Fifth Test.

Personally, I'd say that using the word "farewelled" is an obscene insult to the English language.

Got in the car in Brum at 4 to drive home. Don't think I've ever enjoyed that drive more. And it wasn't the bail swap that got the 9th it was a lucky piss at Wetherby

Due to reasons beyond my control I was in the car during England's epic 2nd innings against Australia at Headingly in 2019. It was pure torture.

Jesus! Hyperbole much?

It's like reading something from a Victorian scandal-magazine.

And the hypocritical tw@ts dare to call us 'whingers'.

Once again, the Aussies show what ridiculous cry-babies they are when things don't go their way. I am Down Under right now. It was a shame not to see much of the play due to the time difference, but I'm making up for it watching rattles fly around on the news.

Just got home and caught the highlights, what a series. If only rain hadnt scuppered the last test.
Genuinely believe the Bairstow stumping turned the series around in Englands favour, think privately it got the players backs up and focused them mentally into realising just how much the Ashes means to the players and fans.

You have to love Broad for winding them up into such a brainless frenzy

I think that’s right. Those suggesting only OT was one sided forget how poor Lords had been for England up until that point. A terribly executed insertion that saw the Aussies make their only 400 and the collapse in our first innings meant that even with a bit of a fightback in their second innings we were always chasing the game. And at 5 down with 190+ to make when Jonny came in it still looked like we were subsiding tamely to a comprehensive defeat in a match we’d always been behind in. 0-2 on the back of that is a bit different from 0-2 having fought a defiant rearguard that almost had them worried at one point and made the margin look moderately close in the end.

Close Test series have multiple turning points though. That’s it’s greatest charm. You can never really know.
