I have to agree, the lad himself struggles to explain the disparity. It would have been interesting to see if he could have made the difference at Lord's as well.

I think that's one of the big takeaways to the series for me. We can put the openers debate to bed now. Crawley and Duckett are here to stay....
I’d guess and hope they would. End of the day, it’s a game they sacrifice a hell of a lot of the prime of their lives for.
Tours are a grind, all that time away from your loved ones, often in gruelling conditions, spending day after day with the opposition players.
They deserve a hell of a piss up if that’s what they’re into.

Brilliant Test cricket. Sadly all over for the summer though and it's not even August. Having said that, maybe having the Tests so close together helped with the drama and ebb and flow.

You can tell how well liked he is around the team. Obviously a sound lad to boot.
I personally wouldn't have brought him back but I'm glad they did in the end. Helped us get over the line today. Just saw his 4th innings bowling stats

Na, they played the percentages and played professionally throughout. We played to entertain, but ultimately our bravado sold us short. We knew the forecasts and conditions but haven’t got the nouse to play out an innings.
The result was ultimately a fair reflection. Credit to both sides, but the Aussies played the sensible game.
