Ben Stokes fitness a massive part of why he got picked mind.

Probably gamble on Ahmed if he was fit to bowl properly in the first test. Even though I still think that would have been a mistake to put that on him.

Dawson was arguably the best pick, but I can see they wanted someone experienced at the top level in Moeen over him.

Selection has favoured those who can bat over specialists at their position eg wicket or spin. Have to say the evidence suggests it hasn't provided sufficient advantage to be justified.

Without time pressure, which has never been an issue with pretty much 5 sessions to bat in, the target really isn't much of an issue at this point

Even if you get either Smith or Head here the remaining order have 150 in them without much bother

It's been entertaining at times..but it has been more careless than it hasn't and costly. But I feel the selectors have cost us in this series more than the players or bazball. You simply have to look at Ali's inclusion. Wood and Woakes Exclusions. Foakes not being keeper.

Ultimately if we lose this 3/1 the tests we lost we where in control with the bat and through wickets away in clumps.

Probably 50 short at Egbaston that mad passage at Lords cost us a 100 at least. From Bairstows dismissal I reckon another 60/70 runs.

But 5 tests in never picked the best available 11.
