Keeps the poorer batsman off strike and also just keeps the Aussie's annoyed. They won't like this with the lead so big, the bowlers will want to put their feet up in the dressing room. Also gives Broad and Anderson a chance to take a good look at the wicket.
 
Poor from England. Likely no play from lunch onwards today and half a day likely to be lost tomorrow

A no.11 reverse sweeping a spinner to the boundary and not running is stupid in the context or the rain that is coming
