Yes he is.Agreed but a touch wider is his usual glide to third man. That was just cramping him to play the shot
he’s better than that and will be fuming until the second innings
A little bit more concentration and we could have been leading this series. Some shots have been inexcusableI do wonder at some of the pissy pants comments on this Cricket Board.
We are 18 months into England’s way of batting.
Why are people surprised at some of the dismissal?
It is the way we bat. In this case we are pushing on because of the weather forecast.
It is NOT surprising.
Sometimes (more often than not to be honest) we score shedloads.
Others we lose wickets.
I’ve gotten used to it. I might suggest that other’s do…..
Yet still would be top scorer if we didn’t declare on him more than likelyRoot has been crap this series by his standards.
Well exactly when they played exactly the same way last week, posters saying it was measured and not reckless.I do wonder at some of the pissy pants comments on this Cricket Board.

Is it not more to do with the fact that it's against the Aussies?I do wonder at some of the pissy pants comments on this Cricket Board.

I'm not surprised but it doesn't make it right 100% of the timeI do wonder at some of the pissy pants comments on this Cricket Board.

Whole series it’s been like this. Just throwing the bat at things and praying. Only time it’s really worked was on the flattest pitch of the series at old Trafford. Then the usual people who enjoy that pitch are out for next to nothing again today once the pitch does a bit.A little bit more concentration and we could have been leading this series. Some shots have been inexcusable
Last week the pitch did nothing. Today it’s doing a fair bit. Can you not see the difference in the pitch or something? And therefore don’t you think a change in mentality to match is needed?Well exactly when they played exactly the same way last week, posters saying it was measured and not reckless.
Yet this test and others playing exactly the same way we reckless and getting out to shit shots!
I honestly think some posters want us to score quick runs and win games by not playing any shots!
Doesn’t work that way
Yeah that’s a fair point up to a point yeahWhole series it’s been like this. Just throwing the bat at things and praying. Good few batsmen in our side have no place in the test game

Which ones do you refer to?Whole series it’s been like this. Just throwing the bat at things and praying. Only time it’s really worked was on the flattest pitch of the series at old Trafford. It’s a hard game test match cricket especially against the best in the world. You would think we were getting hammered every game tbhIt’s more the fact they seem incapable of absorbing pressure you can’t tee off against quality bowling when the ball is moving.
Plus it highlights just how poor we where at Lords that first morning with even more helpfully conditions.
Honest answer, since the cricket moved to Sky, I ONLY watch the Ashes, and even then only when I get the chance.I do wonder at some of the pissy pants comments on this Cricket Board.

As opposed to our previous test team who just got out and collapsed regularly losing 1 in 17 tests without playing any shots.Whole series it’s been like this. Crawley is absolutely woeful.Which ones do you refer to?
Crawley maybe
Duckett averaging over 50 from his return
Root?
Brook averaging 70 or so in test match cricket
Stokes?
Bairstow?

Is the only option to play everything or play nothing? Is there no compromise possible depending on the pitch? No adaptation? Do we have to accept Sunderland being in the championship forever because 4 years ago we were in league one and therefore should be grateful? As opposed to our previous test team who just got out and collapsed regularly losing 1 in 17 tests without playing any shots.
It is clear would works for this team last 18 months proves it
Who are better?Crawley is absolutely woeful.
Duckett is fine in subcontential pitches but isn’t up to much in England, albeit probably our least worst option.
Root is just in bad form - that’s fine as he’s usually exceptional
Brook is just a flat track bully who can’t play a moving ball
Bairstows batting has been awful all series and his keeping is worse
