4th test Manchester

I think I've read a few times like, it really does matter to the Aussies, to say they've won an Ashes series in England etc....
Not sure that's the case these days with all the money, status and achievements from IPL etc. Think that's more than a consolation.

Aussies will be delighted to head home having retained the Ashes, especially having become world Test champs beforehand. If they do, then it’s involved some grade A shithousery and England not taking their chances, but if you offered them 2-2 now they’d take it I reckon.

Is that what I said?
I'm following your logic. You said because their hadn't been a session this morning they didn't need to stop for a break.

But they don't have a session before the morning session so clearly don't need lunch and should keep playing.

Their not robots and absolutely no issue with their being tea after an elongated session of 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Should be questioning instead, how we managed to have an over rate of 11.3 till the spinners came on, seeing as we didn't have a morning session.

England's team isn't great but they are pushing the best team in the world to their limits. All due to the mentality that Brendan and Ben have installed into this team. Whatever, happens they have exceeded my expectations in this series and have been the definition of a hole being far greater than the some of its parts.

good point, they’ve found a way to mix it with the best and that’s great to watch

Well I suspect we'll never know, and I'm not saying that they're having sleepless nights.

But I think generally accepted that just retaining in England, rather than actually winning, will be a disappointment and the likes of Cumming, Smith etc.... will consider it a blot on their legacy. This Aussie team have achieved an awful lot, and they'll want to have a 'win in England' in the books.

Like, the Ashes are great but the trophy/prize is a bauble the end of the day, if it ends 2-2 it's a drawn series the same way it's a drawn series against anyone. Take away the "Ashes" history and they'd not be looking to get out of England with a drawn series, at all.

Had we bowleed after lunch yesterday with how wickets were falling, it's a fair hypothesis. If you want to play that game nobody was expecting bowling in overcast conditions today, because nobody was expecting any play at all.

As i said yesterday before lunch, you *need* 10 wickets to win

You could have a billion runs on the board, 9 wickets, still don't win

England reliably score very fast, faster than they take wickets. Get the wickets first with 200 runs on the board and give yourself a chance at a win.

Currently it's looking like England traded runs that don't matter for time which is incredibly precious.

England scored 592
Australia have lost 5 wickets in 71 overs

Australia now 61 behind with 5 wickets in hand, those 8.1 overs for 66 runs for England in the 10th wicket have not drawn this match.

Bat is beating ball in this test match. It was unlikely we were going to bowl Aus out in 50 overs, not declaring seems more the right decision than ever IMO.

This. They will be more than content with that
