4th test Manchester

Here's the dilemma, chip away at them and take it slow and possibly result in day 4 and 5 being a washout and ending up a draw, or go for it and risk wickets.

There’s no dilemma yet in my view. We don’t need to worry about Day 4 and 5 weather on the second afternoon. The way we bat naturally means we’ll have a lead tonight (if we’re still batting) and by lunch tomorrow that lead will be into three figures. Get 500 by the middle of tomorrow and then declare ;).

Note t player: Don't play aggressive shots and get out.

Second note to player: It's OK to play aggressive shots if you don't get out. In fact we need you to do that.
That’s not what I said at all. He’s literally been dropped on the same shot the ball before - it’s awful to get out doing exactly the same thing

Done a brilliant job there did Modern, it’s Sod’s Law that it was only when he tried to go aggressive did he look troubled.
If he had more concentration and patience in him, he could have been a 40+ avg test batsman. Still a very good destructive batsman on his day

This. Just bat at our own pace and we’ll have a 100 run lead tonight, 250 by lunch tomorrow and when we’re out bowl them out with whatever lead we have. And a small chase potentially if needed in double quick time

Aussies have been shocking since around midday. Total lack of intensity. Very strange. If Root can just stay there and accumulate, with the others on the dash, all should be well. BUT . . . he doesn't look prepared to do that.
