They want a batsman keeper rather than keeper batsman.

The argument is that the current incumbent is failing as a keeper (and looks out of touch as a batsman). Not all that surprisingly given his injury

Englands fielding has been pretty abysmal all round, got to ask do they do any practice? I was surprised to see Root had dropped so many. Our poor fielding is costing us.

Foakes record with the bat isn't that far off JB's, Personally I'd probably bring Foakes in, move Root to #3 and JB #5.

At the end of this series someone needs to ensure Stokes has a proper rest, get his knee (and possibly hip) properly sorted out both for the teams sake and for his own welfare.

The lesser sides being the then World Test Champions and the then number one in the Test rankings. Hardly Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

I think Stokes will bowl in 1 of the next 2 tests mind, changes the team if he can cover 1 or 2 spells each innings.

my point stands. hes done absolutely fuck all this ashes series and deserves to be dropped. he's getting found out by a team with more fight, desire and backbone than himself.

Firstly I think Foakes should keep and Bairstow seems not fully fit so perfectly fair argument for some to say that imo.

But some of the comments thrown at Bairstow disgraceful and embarrassing by some posters with short memories, he was sensational last year.

And just 3 games in apparently ‘ he has no backbone’ ‘ only in because plays golf’ and also ‘ a f***ing con’

Hway man make a point without insulting probably our best player last summer just 3 games into this one.

Last year is irrelevant, he’s broke his leg in 3 places and put on a significant amount of weight since then.

As a batsman, he deserves time, but picking him as a WK is lunacy. He was like a retired WK playing village cricket last test.

Agreed.

It's McCullum and Stokes fault picking him when he's not fit. Not all on him like.

He's performed horribly since the first innings at Edgbaston. At least the only was is up not sure he can get any worse.

Just as a matter of interest, how long does it have to be before historical performances are no longer relevant?

Not interested in the Bairstow bashing, agree with you on that point BTW.

Yeah like I say mate can’t make myself more clear that I agree fully that Foakes should be playing and Bairstow this series been very poor keeping.

I get that just don’t understand the over the top insults to one of our own players, especially one of our own players who performed heroics just last year.

Like I said earlier in the thread surely posters can make that point without the over the top insults?
 
As others have said, it's crazy to stick with Bairstow at the moment.
Just have to hope he doesn't make another decisive fumble in the next two tests.
