It's true. I was there with the as yet to be formed Seaburn Casuals and we got battered by thousands of mags who claimed the Fulwell end for 90minutes.
It wasn't a case of maybe a hundred mags jumping onto the side of the pitch to run to the safety of the away enclosure after silently sneaking into the match. No not at all. They TOOK the home end and probably tea bagged Tom Cowie at the same time....

Anyone know if that was the game (I'm assuming it was) where there were loads of pennies, knives

I vividly remember a picture in the Echo of a Lad getting escorted around the side of the pitch with a dart in the side of his nose

For those who never went the Fulwell end was basically, the further to the centre, directly behind the goal and the further towards the back the fans got crazier. So centre back was were the nut cases stood. (Anybody else remember the Red Alert mob)?

They did well to get in but haway man basically a bunch of excitable kids on a school day out. I doubt even a decent punch was thrown. You can see the 'moat' that opens up around them straight away that hardly anyone tries to cross, then it's out and on the pitch before any real daft lads can get through the surprised and retreating normal fans.

I was 18 and in the Clockstand seats, about 3/4 the way along towards the Fulwell. I remember a lad in a denim jacket with a large old badge sewn on the back bobbing and a weaving picking off mags on the edge of the huddle. He clipped a good handful
As they walked past I stood up to toss some coins but as I pulled my hand back someone caught hold of it. I turned around and the bloke said in a thick Geordie accent, 'if you think you're hard go down there'. I said 'do they think they're hard? Going in the Fulwell amongst the bairns?'
He then offered me out after the match
I said if you want your go come on and have in now. He sharp sat down but still saying he would see me later. In the conversation I noticed there was a good few mags around us.He snuck out at some point because he was nowhere to be seen at full time
