3rd test - Headingley

looking forward to this later. i think (hope) england will win although you never know, we're always a collapse waiting to happen.
just an observation but from what i see (as someone who only really listens/watches england play cricket so not really an expert) all the talk from australia before the series about not getting drawn into this new way of playing test cricket by england and playing their own game hasn't really been true so far. they've been drawn into it and tbh it's been very exciting from both sides.
Yes, they have definitely been drawn into it, just hope we do the job, and do it well today

Going to miss today, but reckon Root and Brook are going to rise to the occassion. Brook should still be buzzing from his tremendous catch yesterday.

Get a big plate of chicken and chips down Crawley ready for this morning’s session, he was mint last night

the first half a dozen overs is key. if we can see them out without loss we'll be ok-hopefully.
Agreed, last thing we need is a repeat of Friday when Root went second ball of the day. Play smart and sensible, leave the ball well and don’t have any unnecessary wafts at it (Duckett). They get an early wicket and their tails will be up. If we can get a solid foundation to see off the new ball then we’ll surely win.

Crawley often looks in good touch then he will inexplicably nick one. It’s just what he does!

As long as the weather holds for the next 2 days england will win
My fear is they will look at the weather forecast and go baz ball
No need to,play sensibly and it’s 2-1
England are great chasers under Stokes, six out of seven successful, mostly 275+, and even the one failure required a controversial dismissal and still saw them getting 300+. They do it the way they do it because that’s the way that suits them. No need to do it? I’m sure the skipper would say every need, because it works.

This. We very much should win today, but we still then need to win two out of the next two and have to be more or less flawless to do so. A lot of variables between now and any metaphorical then. All it takes is one bad call at the toss, one inspired innings from an Aussie or one England collapse* and our goose is cooked.

Australia are 3/1 on Paddy Power and that in my view is outstanding value.

*including today :o
Aye, I'd be happy to avoid a whitewash or 3 or 4 nil, after being 2-0 down after two tests. The Aussies could regain the Ashes today, which would be the earliest it has ever happened. We must dig in and win this, far from a foregone conclusion.

It wouldn’t even be the earliest it’s happened in the last two years. This is day four. Last series we went 0-3 down on day three.

Has it ever been done before?

For some reason I keep thinking about the Red Sox 2004, I went to see them live by chance in 2000, so figured they would be "my team".
They Made the world series in 2004 and I was doing a job in New York mid series when they went 3-0 down (best of 7).
I remember popping into a sports shop at JFK airport on way home and looking at a Sox cap, the owner chuckled (obviously a Yankee), I didn't really care that much and said "you never know".
Sox came back to win 4-3 (first time ever done) and break a 80 plus year hoodoo

It's weird cos I haven't though about that for so so long (I didn't buy the cap).
Once before, in the 1930s.

I'd adopted the Red Sox before that as they were a traditional club who were shite, played in red and white, from the North East, old ground that was falling to bits, hadn't won the league in 70 years.

Personally I'd like to see us go out and attack and look to score. I don't think the team look comfortable poking about outside the off stump. Decent chance if we do we end up 100/6 staring down the barrel
Horses for courses , Ducket and to a lesser extent Brook will have to push on its what they do .The rest just need to play each ball they've got 2 days to scratch 250 ffs. Keep the Aussies in the field, trickle over the line slow and show them we can be patient and play the situation. Stokes can do the last 30 in an over just to rub it in .
