2nd TEST - England v Sri Lanka

clearly wasn't fit latter half of 2nd test, might have had something to do with Cook bowling him in long spells but him and Anderson are struggling with back to back tests now
Hmm. How long 'til the India tests? Cook (or the selectors) need to pick 4/5 bowlers that Cook has faith in - he can't keep turning to Jimmy and Broad every time he needs a wicket. What would Cook give for the 2005 bowling attack now eh?

Aye monty
He needs to sort his head and his priorities out. Seems to be on a downward spiral

Essex top wicket taker this season 22 at 29s

And been dropped by both Sussex and Essex in the last 12 months for off the field problems plus a suspended ban for aggression/intimidation on the field. This is out of character for him and suggests there are problems somewhere. Would you expose him to the pressure of Test Match cricket right now?

Well he's obviously bouncing back from it on the pitch this season. I'm fully aware of what he has done, and it's an issue.

But he's the only spinner we've got though.

Also Broad has a knee injury he has been managing since the start of the last Ashes which will require surgery after the India series (We have a long gap till the world cup, hence the reasoning behind 'managing' it)

Doubt he'll play in all 5 tests v India then. I know, let's win the first 3 then he can have a rest. Sound good? Ok

Actually, what are India like these days since SRT retired? They have lost a few big names over the last couple of years, are the new guys up to much?

I honestly would give Kerrigan another chance under Moore's, the lad had a shocker on debut but i think that was just nerves same as Robson, his county record is the best over the last 4 years and he will have learnt a hell of alot from that 1 test (do not say 'it's that he can't bowl')

Kohli is in great form, Pujara looks a hell of a player too, Dhoni always digs in, Dhawan looks a canny opener.

Dhawan- 48 avg
Kohli- 46 avg
Pujara - 58 avg
Rahane- 47 avg
Sharma -56 avg (only 6 tests)
Dhoni - 38 avg

Pujaras first class average is even higher 61!!

piece of piss man.

Cook's position is untenable. Completely out of form with the bat and making mistake after mistake in his captaincy that hascost us matches. If he leads us into the India series, I fear a whitewash.

The only reason he has clung on is the lack of strong alternatives, partly because senior players have been forced out or succombed to the pressure of playing far too much first class cricket.

To be honest, I would be tempted to draft in Colly or Gale as 'specialist captain' for the India series.

It is a shame Onions wasn't fit and playing like next season, he is the perfect man to bring in when Jimmy needs a rest.

Annoys me seing blokes like Jordan in the team straight away, he isn't fit to tie Onion's laces.

The Capello effect.

Selectors can't be fucked to travel more than 2 hours out of London.

Easily our best, whether he is peeing on bouncers or not.

Marriage breakdowns can get to a man.

Second test match attendances;

Day 1 11,054

Day 2 13,891

Day 3 6,700

Day 4 3,989

Day 5 2,428

And Bob Willis would ban drinking and fancy dress.......

Isn't it years since his marriage broke down? Doesn't matter how good he is, he needs to sort himself out if he's to come back into consideration. People like Vaughan have hinted that there's more to it than what has been made public (almost missed the l in that ).
